    Phillips will be playing one of the AM slots wont he? Wasn't the whole thing around him leaving Barnsley was because he couldn't play any of the midfield slots in a 442? He sounds like a proper attacking 10 rather than a deep player.

    GA played Hump as a CF when we all expected him as a LW. So anything is possible with Phillips. For me, Id like to see him as a CM but in a more box to box/attacking role, next to someone who sits. If he is primed for the AM role then he is pretty much fighting with Sarcevic and Jackson for a shirt in that RAM role. If there was one single position on the pitch we didnt need a player it was RAM.

    What I read about him he doesn’t like to tackle so I doubt he will play deep

    Could be a case where Phillips take Sarc’ role in the team, and Sarc covers the attacking and holding positions in midfield

    Commenting on Phillips arrival, GA said 'we are delighted to have Adam on board and I was very clear with him during our conversations that if he sees himself as an AM, not to sign for us because despite his excellent record in that position, I see him more as a DM.

    All 3 signings so far have leaked to the press and have looked 99% nailed on. I do wonder if a few curve balls have deliberately been sent out there as a warning to not believe everything you read and create suspense until it is officially announced.

    Dempsey, Elder and Gillesphey were all 100% happening a few days ago and now looks like we wont sign any.
