Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

I notice Ali Al Hamadi just came on for Iraq.

Won't play next season for Ipswich in the PL, so almost certainly available on loan.

Didn't do much at Luton, but good for competition? He can certainly play when on form

 

I’m not disagreeing. I simply don’t believe he played that deep because Alexander didn’t trust his defenders and felt the need to protect them

 

His wages must have been high

 

He'll be on a fair whack i'd imagine. Wouldn't read a huge amount into his Luton spell, he only managed just over 400 mins in 13 games, was injured pretty much his entire spell there.

Seems like Beesley is the investment up top, unless we are getting them on the cheap and paying barely any wages, i cant see us bringing in another name on decent money.

 

Rumour is that Macaulay Langstaff will be moved on this summer from Millwall. He's a player we have been linked to many times before, but Millwall are bringing in a new striker for £2m from France this week and it's sounding like Langstaff has been told he is free to leave.

He has been playing as an attacking mid as much as a striker there since his move. Again, feels like we have already invested in that position this summer and maybe we wont again unless Humps or Swan move on, but maybe we try once more?

 

Yeah i must admit i'd prefer another forward coming in than hoping Swan and Humps can be a difference maker in their second seasons. I suppose whilst we have zero CMs on the books until Dempsey is announced, that might be the area we look to bring names in before another forward? Unless there's a no brainer type deal obviously.

 

To be honest i've lost track with the amount of players we had "signed" at one point already this summer. Elder, Dempsey, Matt Young all come to mind as being done deals at one stage.

 

Much as I'd like us to be successful like this last season i suspect we are more likely to consolidate our position in L1 with a good season outside the play offs given the teams and budgets in L1 this year. I hope not, but I'd be happy with consolidation and gradual team building.

 

The bar has been set now after last season. Hopefully with an improved squad quality wise and more firepower, we should be aiming for play offs again.

 

I think the division will be harder this year but there is no reason why we cannot improve also. I don't think the mentality at the club is to stand still.

 

I cant see why we couldn't move forward and have another play off push. I know the back half of the season we had a mid-table output, it did feel like legs were going a little in the team and the attacking plans didn't hit as they did at the start. But the signings so far are positive to me and having a left footed Baldwin (statistically speaking) in Gillesphey if that comes through might bring more balance to the attacking plan and let the midfielders push a little more rather than sitting deep. Beesley has been chased a while, they must thing his output can improve our attacking options. Phillips has been a consistent threat as a 10 in this league for years now too. Fingers crossed we are back and fully fit and ready to rock again in August.

I'd say we have again roughly a mid-table budget as last season looking at the lay of the land, but money doesn't mean success, it's getting the right guys in and so far they tick the boxes in my view for how we want to play. The midfield 2 is still a big hole to fill but there's ages yet to do so.

 

Kamil Conteh has been mentioned on twitter a few times in the last few days. A blogger journo has said the 3 clubs who have had bids for him knocked back by Bristol Rovers are from Luton, Huddersfield & Stockport. Looks like he was in the Boro academy at a similar time to Gent, might be a link there but the 3 clubs above would be able to offer better wages than most in L1.

Josh Stones, the York striker we have been mentioned with a few times over the last few years, sounds like he might be coming to L1 this summer as Sheff Weds have made a "significant seven-figure bid" for him. If not, we could face him in the EFL trophy as we have been drawn with York and Rotherham in that cup.

 

York will give that a go lovely little stadium

 

A great weekend for the exile but sadly we could fill the place twice over, so tickets will be at a premium.

 

Went to the pre-season friendly there couple of seasons back, easy to get to and you can book a parking spot next to the ground in the retail park.

 

Fair play to @Sunnybank if that deal comes off, he's backed Stones for a long time.

 

Can't remember when we were linked with Stephan Negru, was it January or last summer? Anyways, he's signed for Swindon.
