Why not? Dempsey seems to be coming in and we have bidded for bailey with money to spend who's to say we won't bring them both in.

I’m not going to continue going over the same points again. However, as my last words on this before I move off the subject;
1. I didn’t point to his stats as a comparison. I merely suggested that ONE example was his goal contributions being higher.
2. Why mention Bailey’s performance against us last season, when you’ve already admitted he played as a CB to cover injuries? In all previous games, he’s more than held his own and helped Donnie dominate midfield battles against us.
3. I’m not even going to rise to the comment about “watching an opponents career so much that you can judge them on more than basic stats”. We’ve all given opinions on players we’ve seen a handful of times, you included. Did Bailey get into the L1 Team of the Season, yes or no? He’s clearly no mug!
4. I didn’t accuse you of saying Metcalfe was poor since February. However, there are many, many supporters on here and other platforms that did. Look at some of the comments on here when we knew he was being sold and the fee was 7-figures. How many suggested we’d done very well to get £1m+ after his end of season form?

 

I would definitely have Baldwin at RCB, but you are right, we need to bring in better in the centre and left hand side

We’re not a Prem club, with those kind of resources Kev. They can easily spends millions on young players, hoping 1 fulfils their potential and lands them a megastar. But how many of their young players actually fulfil that potential and earn them that profit? For every McBurnie, you’ll have 10 Graeme Tomlinsons. For most clubs in the Championship and leagues lower, we have to get instant results from our signings

 

Didn’t say anything about Walker other than whoever takes his place should earn it not just walk in which will be the case but Baldwin was our best defender last year and is well capable

 

We don't know who we've bid for and two weeks in to the season everyone will be "we would have won that if we had been serious about signing Bailey and Dempsey" when we were never in for them. Let's see who comes in. Could be even better players.

The times I saw Webster live or on TV he ran the show fof Burton, it will be interesting to see if any offers come in for him as he missed a lot of the second half of the season with an injury.

 

Probably don’t bring his stats and nothing else into it then if you don’t want people to think you’re not using it as a comparison. Then you bring him up because he was in the team of the season, how do you think they’re judged? Because it isn’t with a group of people watching every player in every game in a season. Remember a certain right back we got from Blackpool who’d just been in the team of the season? Absolutely appalling player so it means little to me. It can’t mean much to championship clubs either or they’d be sniffing at the door like they were for Metcalfe. As for point 4, I couldn’t care less tbf what fans think they make comments like Bailey has dominated midfield against us when we play them, despite often playing CB (he hasn’t only played once there against us, and plays there fairly regularly for them). I’m not saying he’s not a decent player, but you’re the one saying he’s better than Metcalfe, despite seeing him a few times, including when he’s played CB. So other than G/A’s I don’t really know what you’re going to go off. I’ve seen Metcalfe over 30 times this season, heck one poster on here even asked me what I saw in him after we beat Plymouth away, the same as a championship club that just missed out on automatic promotion I guess…

Surprised to see the Metcalfe - Bailey convo still going strong

Bailey has good stats from last season
Rated highly by the Donny faithful
And rightly has many admirers in League One, including ourselves

Is he comparable to Metcalfe? No. Two different type of players

Is he a world beater? No. But would be nice to have him

Is he worth more than Metcalfe? Speculative. Donny probably say yes because that is what would be needed to replace his influence on the team. Other teams may think he's worth less than 7 figures

Did Bailey shine against us, for us city fans to get a true glimpse as his qualities? 2 games is hardly sufficient time to build a full analysis. He played at CB in one game due to Donny injuries and looked okay. Although my personal attention of Donny players was more focused towards Cristiano Gibson and Lionel Sharp

Should we sign him? If it doesn’t break the bank then yeah

will we sign him? Nah, we’re skint as feck. Spent all our coffers on petrol so we could scout scottish keepers across the border

 

Webster is a weird one. Has looked class in many appearances but as you said was injured a lot last season. Not sure where I read it but there question marks about his professionalism/attitude but cant remember the details. Also think Burton wanted around 3 mil for him in January. Wont be getting near that now though

 

Seen a rumour that Dempsey is probably Blackpool bound.

 

This is what I have been told this afternoon but I am taking it with a pinch of salt.

2 more signings completed both will be unveiled by Wednesday. Another is very close but on holiday until Tuesday so medical will be back end of week if deal completed.

We are prepared to pay £500k for Owen bailey however Donny want around double that .

we are very interested in Odin bailey however Plymouth are favourites

Green at Grimsby was considered but highly unlikely.

Callum Wright was on our radar but looks like Hibs bound.l

Sam Morsy is still being considered

We have enquired about Sam Bell at Bristol city and don't rule out another move for Harrison Ashby but this time on a permanent basis.


Alexander only wants proven L1/championship players.

Off field we may have a secured another massive deal that will generate substantial funds over the next 3 years.

That's basically word for word I have been told but please don't take as gospel however it seems alot is going on behind the scenes that we have no Idea about

Well, it's a rumours site, so if we don't have people providing rumours, it would be pretty boring! I really hope we are not in for Green; something about him screams one-hit wonder to me and is no better than League 2. I'd take any other name in a heartbeat, however.
