Football squads are no different to chess , they evolve over time . Players know this . Sarce may struggle to get a two year deal at the same value as his current one year ….Depends who and if anyone wants his technical ability?

 

I could definitely see Salford being interested and probably prepared to offer him a decent deal. Whether he would want to play in front of 7 blokes and a stray dog though is another matter....

 

Sarce will have plenty of impact this year, on and off the pitch.

I'm happy to bet any of the posters on the thread declaring the early demise of Sarcevic that if he's still here in May then he's made at least 25 league appearances.

 

I bet he hasn't played 25 games by September though!

We don’t know if he is a direct replacement for Sarce, he is however in the building ready for Sarce leaving next May
Sarcevic took up the option on his contract I believe ,we didn’t offer a new one
Good forward planning by the club and if Phillips does well, we could see Sarce move on come January
Whatever happens Sarcevic has been great to have and he appears to have liked his time with us

 

I honestly don't understand the thought of Sarce moving on Andy.

We don't know how we'll set up yet but even if he does end up playing second fiddle to Philips when was the last time we had regular back up of the quality of Sarcevic to call on in games?

If it's affordable we absolutely should keep them both to not only drive them both on but to maintain the standards of every other player fighting for those midfield positions and who's to say that they might not end up playing together?

Absolutely this.
Sarce played 38 league games (32 starts) and was our top scorer with 11 goals, which is outstanding from mostly wide right.
Yes, he did tail off a bit towards the season’s end but to read some comments you’d think he was a chronic sick note, which is emphatically not the case.
As you say, if he isn’t a regular starter because we’ve upgraded then what a fantastic option to have on the bench. It’s a no brainer to keep him if he wants to stay, which he presumably does as he triggered the one year extension.

 

He's a big character in the dressing room, captain material, our top scorer from last season and Talisman. It is also Bradford City tradition to get injuries to key midfielders at the same time. Should be kept at all costs
