Tommy Leigh being classed as a midfielder is a straw clutch if ever i'd seen one!

 

So we are probably still paying part of his wages then. Oh well, I guess the Metcalfe windfall needs to be spent on something.

Sod knows the actual reason. Can't imagine he was on a big whack. Cant imagine yhey couldn't pay for it etiher. All im thinking is, they can use him for a season and if they do well, he'll 99% sign on for free next summer or they go elsewhere for L1 quality. If they are in L2, its probably the same boat but for 25% ish less money.

Works for them, doesn't work for us unless he just had no bidders at all and we took the best option. I'm not being funny, but nothing much about Leighs CV in recent years Screams L2 fee.

 

Don’t worry England will be starting their latest let down campaign tonight, plenty to keep us entertained while we wait. I’ve faith in the club. Maybe it’s misplaced but we’ll see. Sometimes you need to get those out first to maximise your budget and hopefully bring in the quality required.

 

Maybe someone else will come in for him in January if he does well and we'll get a bit of something for him then.

I would guess that we were hopeful/expecting money for Jensen Metcalfe, but couldn't be factored into the budget. Assuming that all will be reinvested that gives us the chance to recruit at least 2 very decent L1 level players.

I'd argue we are probably in the best position we've been this century, with a solid squad and the potential to build on it. Good times to be a City fan.

 

I would think that Bristol Rovers are paying most if not all of his wages with them not having to pay a transfer fee. He’ll be out of contract next June so they’re effectively getting him on a free transfer.

That was my take on it and if he does really well we can recall and sell in January, plus Bristol might not want to lose him
Either way he has gone and we have saved his wages £3k a week is £150k saved
