    He turned up to pre season training in flip flops with a carrier bag, looked like he was on a camp site. He comes across as a bit of a free spirit, a hippy type.

    Well I think Everton have a big sell on fee.

    The problem for us isn’t the fee, it’s losing the two key CM players and now we have to replace them. Not just replace them but make sure that they are a partnership. That is hard to achieve.

    They may have been wrong but one thing for sure he wasn't a striker, and when he showed what he could do it was mainly drifting in from the left and getting a shot off ?.

    Well we have the funds to replace them and even bring in a 3rd as viable competition. Hopefully we bring in an attacking box to box like Pattison - but better and injury free.

    Metcalfe was good for us once he got up to speed in League One, and we were good for him putting him in the shop window showing what he could do.

    The good news with this one is that we've proved that we can develop talent and are a good stepping stone.

    Hopefully we get more of Metcalfe's ilk.

    Was it a key partnership? All I saw is folk moan both were too defensive and we signed shite to replace Pattison and Leigh. They literally had no competition.

    For me GK, CM and CF were the areas we needed to improve the starting 11.

    My opinion, I think Metcalfe has been in the pipeline for some time and really he should be if clubs have been scouting early in the season. I suspect Power came more as a surprise to Alexander and that they probably hadn't been looking for a replacement for him as Alexander thought he would the captain again next season.

    Maybe other guys saw something else.... Power was ok... Now Metcalfe was very good and will get better. Lot more potential. Some replacements needed now...
