Pre-season games

Not sure, don't remember much about it to be honest sometimes I think was it something I had just made up!

I remember looking online once and couldn't really find much reference

 

We use their training ground in winter if ours is frozen, unfit or being used by year 9 netball team

 

Seem to remember big geoff' s spin on the Santos friendly saying that Pele was coming to valley parade only to find he "couldn't make it " at the game

 

They have let us use their training facilities a few times,it's a way of saying thanks,and it's also a very good set up they have there.

 

Huddersfield just announced a brilliant pre season game in Albufeira Portugal against Birmingham City.
Why do we never get owt decent like that?

Didn’t we play in Spain a couple years ago?

 

Yeah it was a farce. Entrance to game was only possible if you booked hotel and travel through some rogue travel agent for £500 and that didn’t include flights !!!

 

Who wants to . Playing in the height of a Med summer in the heat of the day helps nobody . Why is it “ brilliant” ? Preseason is for players, not pissed up fans like our recent Spanish outing ! It was a disaster in terms of heat, and the latter . Ask Harry Lewis.

 

If preseason is just for players then play them behind closed doors.
Fans don’t need to be in Spain or Portugal to be pissed up, there’ll be plenty in Halifax.

I think there are some who need more to do away from football, as the summer seems a struggle. There is no reason to have any sort of complaints about a pre-season schedule; it is absolutely meaningless. Turn up or don't, it is up to fans. Personally, I don't bother or care; I find it a bit odd that some do. They need to get some or more summer plans sorted and forget about City for a bit.

 

My quote of playing behind close doors was aimed at @Kevin1954 wbo suggested preseason is for players not fans.
I don’t want them behind closed doors. Loads of fans of other teams enjoy the foreign pre season tours and why wouldn’t they, it’s something different.
My gripe is that our preseason games are pretty dull. The Austria trip is 100% for the players but pretty crap for fans as it’s miles from anywhere.

 

My main reference was having summer friendlies in red hot countries only for fans to turn up ratted , and as in Spain causing issues with players and pissed up parents . Totally different to a wet Friday night in Halifax ! If you also think having friendlies in baking heat then I’m glad you ain’t a sports therapist .

I guess the England camp didn’t get your memo before they played a pointless friendly in Orlando in front of many more pissed up fans.
