Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

Hope not Chris or we're back to last season with Hilton. Was hoping for an experienced 'keeper to come in and really challenge.

 

I didn't see the L2 PO final but sure someone said he froze on the big occasion so the City appeal may be getting him used to playing in front of big crowds regularly. Could also come back to haunt us early on. But seems the lad has quality so let's not do the usual and write him off before pulling on the shirt - that's assuming there is truth in the rumour

Heard last night from a very random guy who i played 5 a side with that we have signed Barnsley midfielder Adam Phillips. No idea how he know or if this is anything. But it's a rumour. Although just checked and he extended his contract, so unless we're paying a hefty fee for him it seems unlikely.

Also a rumour Jenson is off to Champ. No idea which club.

 

Doubtful, Barnsley have just triggered a years extension on his contract. Similar to Shepherd

 

Yeh I just amended my post as i'd seen that.

Never say never i suppose, they will have triggered it to not lose on a free, like we did with a few last summer.

 

I very much agree that we probably need a new first choice goalkeeper,but not a 19 year old on loan,who showed last season that he is a bit dodgy when under pressure,and he will certainly have a lot of that at VP.

 

Tell you what, that would be a good signing. Surely too random to be a lie lol

 

That means they have a saleable value in their locker rather than let him go for free.

 

I'm sure he got sent off twice for racing out and taking out a striker 1v1. One of them was against Rochdale and I believe it was Henderson. I also have noticed he's had his amazing diagonal kicks coached out of his game since he was with us.

 

That's what I thought.

He seems to think Metcalfe goes, this guy replaces him. Guess we receive money and pay money out with some left as I imagine Metcalfe is worth a lot more due to age and potential.

 

A steadying job? We got spanked 5 1 in his very first game as caretaker and alongside Collins and Russ Abbott was part of the worst managerial team I have ever seen at the club.

He may well have improved and his CV of clubs looks impressive although they were all very short spells so was it him wanting to move on or ...... ?

 

For the same reason Rahic appointed a rookie manager I'd guess.

 

Not sure we would receive a lot for Metcalfe,I believe Everton would take a considerable chunk of any transfer fee.He would have to go for millions for City to get a decent amount,and he is not at that stage yet.

Sorry but it’s a terrible appointment, especially with the likes of Channeller a free agent. Huddersfield still have a lot of overpaid mercenaries knocking about and needed experience to manage them, Fletcher fits that bill nicely he’ll be flinging his arms in the air walking around the pitch in no time. The record under them two was a disaster and I’d be fuming as a town fan at the amount of money they waste under their owner.

 

Regarding Matty Young.

Ignore paper talk if he comes it’s as number 1. My boss, is a Sunderland season ticket holder as I’ve mentioned on here before, even meeting the owner and knowing people at the club. Since his wife died he’s thrown himself into his business and his main hobby, football. It includes knowing about all levels of the club. He said they’ll only be letting him leave if they’re confident he’ll he starting the season as first choice as they’re looking to make him their number two by the 27/28 season to save a bit as even number twos in the PL are getting expensive. He’d not heard anything his end, but it was a few weeks ago when we spoke about him. He’s worked down in West Yorkshire over 35 years and sees us as his second side so is desperate for the move to happen. That said I told him we’d not forgiven them for taking Pickford back early haha. It’s a signing I like if it comes off, I think these young keepers are more talented than the league 1 and 2 journey men pondering about. Question is performing on a big stage, which we are in a good position to offer him.
