Pre-season games

I lost interest in friendlies years ago when Guiseley started charging more than they do for league games, for what are basically no more than training exercises

I will wait for the league cup on 8th August

Our friendlies in recent seasons have been very underwhelming. Yes they don’t mean anything but come on City let’s have some variety instead of the annual Austria trip which offers nothing for fans and the rotation of Lancashire championship club.
Yawn fest!
Bring back the 3 match tour of Scotland or Ireland or even a trip to Seattle..

 

The fitness camp in Austria has served GA very well, not just with us, but other clubs, so why change that?

 

The Austria trip set us up for a great start to the season. And GA swears by the fans have plenty of games to go to

 

A couple decent friendlies there. Halifax should be a good one. Just gotta hope teams don't charge loads for tickets.

Seems to be a pattern with pre season games nowadays.

GA gets his trip to Austria and plenty of games in the Lancashire area where he can be home in less than an hour

 

As it happens it's not a bad set of fixtures. Wouldn't have minded Friday night in Halifax and Saturday in Accrington instead of the other way round but hey ho.

Like @Loyalbantam mentioned it would be nice to have something out of the ordinary every once in while.

Oh for the days of Dnipro, Santos , Valladolid and Sparta Rotterdam turning up for random friendlies

 

GA gets his trip to Austria? Are you suggesting Rupp/Sparks should tell him he needs to go somewhere different and if so, why?
As for your second point, it's 2 games out of 6 that are in the Lancashire area, why are you making out like he's taking the p!ss?

 

Certainly wasn't meant in that manner, more tongue in cheek jesting, I remember the whistle stop tour of Peter Taylor's old pub sides in Essex!

With games at Curzon, Chorley and FC United in recent years , just pointing out that area and level has become to the "go to" in recent years.

I understand it's more likely due to our local area teams, guiseley and Avenue dropping off the face of the earth in terms of ability rather than anything else
