Pre-season games

    I saw some Halifax fans on Facebook over the weekend saying that they heard they were playing Sheffield United and us preseason. Today Halfiax confirmed the Sheffield United game so sounds likely their info was right. In the past this game was ruled out as an option due to the increased police costs due to expected trouble so if this is going ahead then police must have agreed to a lower presence.
    Halifax currently have the Sheff Utd game on Saturday 4th July and Chesterfield Tuesday 14th.
    Sounds like Preston will happen, my guess is the Tuesday 28th.

    In the last few seasons there's only ever been one friendly at VP and they have usually been against championship clubs so I'd imagine it would be against Preston. With Halifax being local it could change though.

    Possible , makes security less of a problem rather than hoards of City fans roaming around Hfax like the old days .

    They normally fly out after the 2nd pre-season game and come back around 2 weeks before the season starts ahead of the Tuesday home friendly so would expect it will be something around 18th - 25th July.

    They are used to people roaming round Halifax,the piece hall concerts attract thousands.

    Would if we( youth team) will play Eccleshill this year now they have moved to Keighley and changed their name. We seem to play them every year if I remember correctly

    Someone at work has it on good authority, they know someone at the club apparently. England could potentially be playing at 10pm that day too quarterfinals v Brazil?

    So the last friendly has been arranged but details to be announced in due course. Wonder if it's tied into a player announcement that might be coming to us on loan from said club?

    Pretty standard pre-season set of games as to be expected, I know people complain about the games but ultimately they are for the players not the fans and there is a limited amount of teams available to face with Premier League clubs starting pre-season later then most are off to America etc and late on in pre-season Championship clubs often play against top division European sides.

    Purely speculating but Grimsby confirmed their pre-season schedule last week but had tbc for 1st August.
    As it's away it almost certainly means it's against a league 2 or lower side so either they don't want their fixtures announced yet or it's tied into another announcement.
