Is that a joke? Sorry, Kev, not clued in lol

Google tells me they've pretty much refreshed everything off the pitch, new CEO, new Head of Football, new Head Scout - not sure any of them are ex-Rochdale?

EDIT: Sorry, got it, manager is the ex-Rochdale manager haha

We lost Pattison aswell who wasnt replaced properly. 3 CMs for 2 spots isnt enough. And are you happy going into the new season with Metcalfe, Leigh and one more?!

If I were a Stockport County fan I think I'd be having doubts.

Seems like it's all well-intentioned, but unless they're well above average in terms of scouting and identifying players from the leagues below, they can't afford to lose sight of the fact they need real League One calibre players.

“Clearly”??? They combined to help us finish 4th when many (including our own fans), expected us to fight relegation. Their job was to shield the back 3 and I’d argue they did just that.

I’m not, but I’m not GA. He also rates Lapslie in that role, as seen towards the end of last season. That said, we may see 1-2 come in on loan. Let’s hope they are better than Joe White and Louie Sibley

Not surprised that he has clubs in for him. He ran the game against us at VP and I'd love to sign a player like Webster. Be out of our price range, sadly. Would imagine he'll want a higher wage than we can/would pay.

Yes clearly, too similar, too defensive. A hindrance on the team. We looked far better earlier in the season with Pattison in there. And results were proof of that.

We did look better earlier in the season but it was Leigh that started in midfield with Power. Pattison didn't feature until October.

Tbf, Metcalfe and Power played over an hour together in 31 games in L1 last season, in those 31 games we won 12, drew 9 and lost 10 and we conceded in 20 of the 31. Not exactly a fantastic return, it's just above mid-table game returns if you stretch it out. Obviously, a midfield doesn't win lose or draw on their own but the return those two gave on the pitch suggested there is room for improvement when neither were a real goal threat, assist threat and still conceded in 2 of the 3 games they start on average.

It is a ghost town in the rumour mill at the minute. Feels like the calm before the storm, players probably checking into their flights home today or tomorrow and the madness starts next week.

I must admit, i thought we would know if Powell had signed on again or not by now. I cant imagine he's going to have a line for his signature given how little football he has played in the last few years. Assuming it's probably a heavily appearance based contract rather than a guaranteed money one and h's playing the field at the min?

Neufville has apparently posted on his Instagram wearing Zack Nelson’s shirt. Nelson is out of contract.

    Could just be a coincidence?

Coventry are apparently in talks for loan and perm moves to L1 clubs for their 20 year old left wing back Tristen Batanwi. Never played for the first team, so there is sod all to find about the lad really, other than he is a left wing back made available for a move.

Anyone think we could be looking for a Touray understudy? (not saying it's this lad). Or Tyreik back up and shift Touray to LCB which was probably his most impressive slot?

Unfortunately the limitations imposed having two defensive set midfielders in an attacking sense meant we didn't trouble the score sheet in 180 minutes of playoff football and saw us the second lowest scorers in the top half of the division. For balance they did help a defence limit opposition to few chances quite regularly. Second half of the season teams had begun to work us out and that often saw Metcalfe substituted as we sacrificed one of the defensive midfielders as we were crying out for some creativity.
The new central midfielder has to be more mobile than the previous two, primarily to stop the front three being isolated which happened a lot.

To be fair to them there were times on a number of occasions where we were conceding on literally the only chance the opposition had, mainly down to centre back errors.

Yup. As i say it's not solely down on them if a team wins loses or draws. With partnerships it's just an eye test thing isn't it? Enough of us could see the legs were just not there with that partnership. A partnership like that is fine if you are playing a back 2 and have that extra body further up the pitch, but you cant play 2 sitters and a back 3 and expect to attack. Looking at the numbers at the time, the hoof play started flowing in after the Burton game (MD 17), Power and Metcalfes run of starts came on MD 13 against Barnsley and in that gap between the two we didn't win a game. No wonder we just hoofed the frigger, we rarely had 3 players in the oppos half!
