Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

Not seen this rumour before. You cannot knock his stats from last season. I would suggest a replacement for Tommy Leigh as opposed to comparing him with Max Power

 

Neill Byrne gone to Donny on a permanent. Wonder if we will sign someone this week… all very quiet

 

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but on the latest BBC Take Me Home podcast Bower and Raynor both seemed to be reasonably confident that there could be more competition heading in for Walker.

Might only be speculation but they seemed to be more than guessing, could have misinterpreted it though.

 

Face book two or three weeks ago, right after Grimsby lost their play off semi. I did actually watch their game and he continually cramped up in extra time from memory . He’s not a comparison to either to be fair . Not saying he wouldn’t fit , but they play a completely different shape to us so extremely difficult to compare coming from L2 .

 

Some things on here trigger their talking points for sure .

You do know that's based on just 2 games don't you? I'd hardly say that it's an accurate impression of a full season.

 

I think you have it set to either just Grimsby or just play offs. Actual whoscred L2 year stats has him ranked 17th, top few for midfielders.

However, a known Grimsby insider on twitter has said he's not heard a peep about this transfer. They've also lost pretty much every midfielder they had on the books other than Green, whonis their captain. So they having to completely rebuild their midfield might be a stretch unless they get a quality deal.

 

I was never keen on Byrne, but he must have done alright there for them to offer a permanent deal

 

No disrespect to the lad but we're aiming higher than that now.

Is he more of a defensive midfielder or attacking

 

Stockport strategy has definitely changed. They’ve now signed Kyron Gordon from Rochdale.

 

But that’s the point of a DEFENSIVE midfielder? He isn’t expected to get shots away or score goals. His job is to break up play and feed those further advanced. With 2 attacking wing-backs and a front 3, there should be enough of a goal threat without another attacking midfielder

 

We’ll see next season. If we start losing midfield and conceding more goals, you’ll have to take that back

 

Wonder how good their scouts are - guess we'll find out!

 

Wasn’t Evans the replacement for Leigh? Surely a replacement for Power and only another if/when Leigh moves on?
