I have no idea, I just bemused as to why folk are losing their shit because the guy gives his reasons to move to another club? Don't think Power himself will give two shits about what others think, he's outlined why he has moved and been honest about it. This thing about 'well I commute 5 hours a day for my job etc' What's that got to do with the price of fish? He played 51 times for us and captained us to a very good first season back in league one. Hes gone, he means nothing to me a city player now his career moves on with Wigan.

I don't think anyone is losing their shit about it, it's just different opinions.

As far as I am concerned he can leave without saying anything as most of them do. He has been offered a better contract by Wigan so he is taking it. Talking about the training ground is insulting tbh. Wigan were nowhere last season, the training ground hasn’t moved. Whinging about as you go is insulting to club and supporters. Now we need to bring in better and he is one player I will forget.

I think he only mentioned the distance of travel to the training ground

Makes you wonder what his decision would have been if we’d been promoted

Yes but what about the training ground and all the travelling? I suppose the extra cash might nullify all that travelling.

Personally I think his excuse is bollocks. He can spend two years in Denmark and the Middle East but a few hours on the M62 is where he draws the line, yeah right.

Anyway, from a footballing perspective he is definitely replaceable and I think we need a different profile of player next to Metcalfe anyway to give us better balance. Whether we will get that or not is a different story.

Even if he left us in a bad way he was still a good player for us and captained us to 4th in our first year back in league one. Good business getting a fee for him we just need to sign a good replacement that works well with Metcalfe.

I said the other day that it is a bit of a poor reason when you're doing a job that most males for the last 50 years or more would kill to do. I believe training is roughly 10 - 2pm, so he's out of the house 7 hours a day for a well-paid job. When I had a young family, I was told that if I wanted to progress in my company, I had to go redo my English and Maths GCSEs. I wasn't a trier at school. This involved two 3-hour college lessons a week on top of my normal working hours, which saw me out of the house for 10 hours a day, 13 hours when I had college. We got on with it and made it work, all for a job I never grew up dreaming of doing. As I said in my original comment on this, I grew up dreaming of being a footballer, wanting to play in front of big crowds in big games; how much time I could save on the drive to training didn't come into it, especially for someone who went to play abroad. To me, footballers act as if they're privileged, as their position suggests; at times, it's like with all these players who never move out of a particular geographical area.

That said, I'll end on a positive note and say he's been honest, so respect for that, and he gave it his all on the pitch. But trying to get a move only halfway through your contract doesn't sit right with me, I feel there are better times ahead for us as a club, and he'll barely be remembered in years to come. Good luck to the guy if that's what's important to him. We move on and hopefully improve on him. As we should for every position.

Max Power was a good player for us. At the start of the season he was top quality. However, lacked goals. He is replaceable.

The excuse to leave though was poor.!

    So let’s get this right?

A third party member called “Loyal” Joe Public who isn’t a shareholder, or a fellow employee, doesn’t like a wholly private and independent company parting ways with one of its employees who he personally don’t know from Adam so he can spend more time with his family ?

    Gotcha. .

That’s the key, he’s doing what’s best for him and his family and rightly doesn’t give a crap about what others think especially those bemoaning his honesty, who would DO EXACTLY the same themselves . The bonus for the club is they got a fee. Many can’t see beyond their garden gate .

Good business for both parties. We need to invest the fee and sign a goalscoring CM.

Wonder when the deal was done, as Power's form tailed off.
