    Surely other players you are chasing might want to see who you are bringing in too. Making the right noise wont harm us when trying to convince others to join.

    Well we bid £400k in January and they knocked it back. You would assume it is around that number again given its the summer and his stock has dropped a bit since.

    I think it’s pretty obvious that he’s a class act. His control and awareness are obviously above L1 level. And he can head a ball, which is more than can be said for any of our other forwards.

    Whether he has the legs or the ability to stay fit enough to play a bigger role remains to be seen and I guess that will be what GA has to consider when deciding whether to offer him another short term deal, no doubt heavily appearance-based. GA clearly saw him as a wise head to help see out games. Thats a valuable role and if there’s enough squad room then I’d be happy with us keeping him.

    Power rumor is interesting - didn’t anticipate this. Fully get it from the players prospective in regards work-life balance - no qualms from me on that.

    We just absolutely need to ensure we have a sufficient replacement lined up, which I trust in our committee we will have.

    Whatever you think of Power on the pitch, I think he carries his role as captain extremely well. I’d be concerned of the gap this leaves and hope we have someone competent enough to fill if he leaves.

    One thing about the Power scenario
    It shows that contracts mean absolutely nothing
    If a player wants to leave, there is not much you can do about it, you don’t want someone turning up for work who is unhappy and possibly causing upset
    At least you get some recompense financially
    If we reinvest this wisely, it could be a good thing

    Id agree on the pitch...but as captain he is ditching us after 1 season to move 45 minutes closer to Liverpool and play with his friends. Thats not very captain like or leading by example.

    TBVF he has kids of school age, moving them now, potentially for a single year is not necessarily the best thing. Aren’t his sons at Wigan academy? Max will shortly be 33 and in the autumn of his career. If he can get a two year deal at Wigan, then it is a ‘no brainer’. Good luck to him.
