The manager cost nothing , wait and see what the incomings cost them before assuming they have a shed load of cash to spend?.

It doesn't have to be Manningham, what about Girlington :brig:Didn't Hendrie, Abbott have digs in the area in those early years, In All seriousness again, some lovely area's around Bradford. If players want to play for us then move closer to home.

As we know only too well, success can be achieved without shed loads of cash with the right winning formula. Exeter were doing pretty ok with Caldwell as manager and zero money, then fell off a cliff when he left. In contrast, Wigan improved when the manager joined.

Hendrie and Abbott shared digs in Horsforth when they first arrived, not sure about Girlington!

If Connolly signs it’s pointless highlighting his versatility as a major strength when one of the positions he covers is at CB where we already have 6 viable options (assuming Baldwin signs re-signs). It’s his midfield credentials we should be concerned with when assessing his worth to the squad.

Far too sensible to be considered the strategy of the owner(s) of a football club

I was told it was that area in those early years of coming to the club, so I could be wrong. I believed we had players that lived amongst us, how disappointed is that:brig:

Didn't Bolton only have 2 shots on target?

We have released 3 centre backs including the youngster Goodman, so definitely need additions there. I also have a feeling Pennington may leave in the summer.

Baldwin is under contact for at least another 12 months

2 that mattered and 4 in the final.
Point is in the 2nd half of the season we were toothless. We have to put that right from day 1 next season. We can’t start the season with Jackson or Humps up front.

We currently have Wright, Baldwin, Tilt and Pennington as recognised CBs. We definitely need that 5th option.

I don't imagine Wigan fans see this as a sign of "ambition". He'll be 33 when the season starts and if he continues the dodgy form he showed at the back end of the season once fatigue seemed to set into the team then he's absolutely not the man to drive them forward.

I get your point but experienced pros at this level aren't uprooting their families and moving over here for a 1 or 2 year contract. Not without serious consideration of wanting to settle in the area.

Tbh I don’t think many of our players actually live in Bradford.

Touray and Sarcevic are still over the Pennines around Stockport, Power and Metcalfe are in Liverpool, Neufville is in Leeds I believe, Joe Wright in Harrogate etc. I think there’s only Lapslie that I know of in Bradford, and he’s in Wrose/Shipley. Pointon might still be in Low Moor.

No players in Wakefield which is a shame as it’s a nice city and an easy drive to Bradford. Chris Kamara is not far from me and he lived here in his playing days with City too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tilt has been told he can look elsewhere either if he wants to start next season. He was looking ropey for the last few months of the season and he's about to be 35. He might struggle if we move to a back 4, probably needs to be centre of a back 5 at this stage of his career. Touray can play LCB too to add to that list, but i do struggle to see Tilt starting many games for us.

Suppose it depends if we bring in another LWB and Touray goes to LCB or bring in a LCB and Touray is predominantly a LWB.

I'd prefer the first option. Touray is steady enough at LWB and was very effective in away games early season but then struggled to really add the quality we need at the top end consistently enough.

Option 1 for me, felt like Tourays legs had gone at the end of the season. In the play offs, he just couldnt get over the half way line without being closed down, not really a good option anymore to stretch the pitch. But he's stilla good 1 on 1 defender and seems to have some great positional play, looked his best at LCB to me anyways.

Tilt is a mountain when the ball or man is coming at him, but hell he scares the **** out of me when he has the ball at his feet!!!
