Completely agree, Power and Metcalfe are very similar in terms of skillset. Both like to sit and as has been mentioned before since Patto left we have no one who can support the front three from central midfield.

100% we need someone who can link up with the front 3, otherwise it's going to be a continuation of the hoofing it fowards that started to creep in more and more since the turn of the year.

 

We need to be constantly evolving as a team and strengthening our weaknesses and scoring goals was one of those areas. Need more bodies capable of getting into forward areas.

 

Not so sure about that. Very mixed at Crewe, yes it did include 1 promotion.

Failed to get Grimsby promoted out of league 2.

I would imagine Stockport fans been underwhelmed with this if they lose Challinor.

I wonder whether Cook's possible transfer to Grimsby permanently would be affected?

 

Doesn't need to be. Pattison playing there wasn't a formation change because he had the legs to go both ways. In my head it's a better, or even just a more durable, player of that mould that we need.

Depends on your criteria as success I guess. Had one promotion in about 400 games, Alexander has had 2 in about 650 games yet as Bradford fans we'd see Alexander as being successful

 

And if we're going to continue only playing two in midfield then it suggests one needs to sit on the bench more or leave

 

Agree Andy, Power doesn't go until a replacement is found, signed and sealed.

 

The problem is though that it feels like Power won't be content to sit on the bench and Metcalfe is wasted if he's not playing.

 

If Wright is a target I wonder if GA is considering a tactical change with two up top

 

My honest opinion never a fan of Power............

 

Never thought Patto being a defensive midfield capable player . Front foot yes, back foot no.

 

Looking at their stats, Wintle and Power were very similar in what they did but Wintle shaded pretty much everything over Power barring Tackles committed, Fouls, Yellow cards and Long passes, everything else Wintle had a better marker on than Power with similar numbers but Wintle was a bit more accurate or a bit more successful at blocks, interceptions, clearances etc at the back. Power attempted double the amount of tackles Wintle did, but he 3 times more fouls than RW. Power tried 201 long balls, Wintle 112 but Wintles long pass accuracy was higher.

He'd be a great option, but maybe asking him to go long isnt too much of his game and he is more a sit in shape and block/clear over a Power who tries a few big tackles per game. He'll probably want a team who will play it out rather than us, especially if we are linked to Beesley and Smith types, shows we are going hoofing once again.
