If true, GA must have somebody lined up to replace him. O’Rourke seems to have a better record than that Nixon reporter.

 

Makes sense, closer to home, club he knows well and they need a figure to try get their fanbase on board. He'd probably fancy the move tbf to see his career out.

If Power goes and a Wintle type comes in, I'm all for it.

 

This doesn’t include “ big” away days aka Darlington , Norwich etc or Burnley games before then .
The away followings in those days were a couple of Wally Arnold’s especially for distance , then CTC became a thing with Patsy and followings grew . Local away games where train was an option, then the away days were great. Barnsley, Donny, Stockport, Rochdale , York etc etc etc Those were really good followings .

Wintle and Odin Bailey it is ?

 

Wigan won't be making any approach unless they've been given encouragement from Power/his agent first.

He's had a good season, but is upgradable. Whether it is a good move or not for us would depend on who we plan on bringing in.

 

Bailey will have already agreed to sign for someone imo. Will be interesting to see if we can pull it off but I’d imagine he will have some interest even at the bottom end of the championship.

 

I don't think Wigan would try if they didn't get an indication from somewhere that we'd be interested in doing a deal and Power would be interested in moving on.

Especially after last summer and how ruthless Alexander was it wouldn't be a major surprise to me if we have said we're looking at upgrades on him and he's free to move on if we can find a replacement. Early last season I felt that Metcalfe was brought in to be the replacement for Power with a view to him being a starter in 27/28 but with how well he improved since around December it could be that it's convinced us to bring it forward 12 months.

From Power's point of view I can totally get why he would be interested in the move as you would imagine he will be captain, move closer to home, get a wage similar to what he's on here and a chance he gets a 2 year deal which gives him more long term security.

It would be another huge call from Alexander but he showed he can make them and get them right last summer so no reason why he can't do it again.

 

O'Rourke almost certainly gets paid by players agents to post on Twitter/X, they'll be some legs in this story.

 

We don’t know , but what we do know is he wasn’t even offered a deal by County. For what reason …you could be right., Maybe it’s to do with Challinors will he/ won’t he antics? Favourite to replace him seems to be Artell the Grimsby boss. Not very progressive if true ?

 

Their footballing attributes are not in question but are they captain material too as we would need a new captain should Power go.

 

Nixon is reporting it too. Saying that Wigan are prepared to pay a fee and offer him a two year deal.

 

Definitely need an upgrade to Power. Someone with pace and drive. We had zero goal threat from CM after Patto's departure.

 

Personally I think we need a different style of midfielder next to Metcalfe. Someone with technical quality to put their foot on the ball and dictate play so that we can begin to have some creativity in the middle of the park. I think this would be a better blend with Metcalfe and bring the best out of him.
