Hull City's Mason Burstow is one strikwr I would like to see us trying to sign, either loan or permanent. Decemt spell at Bolton last season.

 

To be fair he was awful in both our semis and not much better in the final. May come good perhaps ? Reminds me too much of Tyler Smith .

 

I researched a fair few owners a couple of years ago (don't waste my evenings eh?) and Steve Lansdown owns all the sporting clubs in Bristol and Ashton gate stadium as well. Pretty much a self made billionaire. Doesn't guarantee you success as a sporting club but i'd bite your hand off to have him as our owner.

 

Can't see it, needs to be stepping up a level after being promoted. Has played over 40 games at championship level before the season long loan at Bolton. Way out of our price bracket.

 

We did the same mate, it was a night cup match and Trevor Cherry did the same thing, saw us stood at the players entrance with our scarves on and came back with two tickets. Lost 5-2 if I remember too!!

 

I knew you'd remember him. I saw him play for the Spuds, big lad and looking at his numbers I didn't realise how prolific he was

 

And he's a genuinely nice bloke highly respected in his own industry.

 

Michael Smith is the one Nixon has linked us to. He says Smith is still living in South Yorkshire and wants to play closer to home.

He's a proper old school target man, if we are bringing in a Smith or similar type, it pretty much points out that we are sticking with the long ball approach as he doesn't press at all. He's about 6'4 and doesnt really run too much at any old pace. Beesley another slow big man.

 

According to who scored he is very strong in the air and holding the ball up but he is a weak finisher. So he has attributes to be a squad player because we have only Powell. But he isn’t a 20 goal a season finisher.

He's a slightly older, less injury prone Powell then. If Powell doesn't sign a new contract then fair enough, but we don't both imo.

I dont mind us going for the Smith/Beesley type strikers who are on the market, but it's pointless if we dont surround them with pace. If Tyreik is a left wing back for us, I'd like another quicker forward. If he is going to play as that left forward, I'd like a quicker LWB.

We were so slow at the end of last season, it felt like Tourays legs had gone from the winter and that left side was a slog to watch without Tyreik. Pointon can press but he doesn't have breakaway speed or really takes a man on, we need some pacey outlet for my liking if we are playing long to a targetman. Smith and Beesley aren't going to cover the ground.

 

There were a few similar situations over the years but as you'll know there wasn't the sort of away followings we see today back in thd 60s.

 

Wow mate I'm impressed didnt know you moved in those sort of circles, do you know anyone who wants to buy a football club currently on the up .

 

I only met him the once at a seminar thing run by the FCA, all I remember from the few minutes of chat over the early coffee was his modesty, love of sport and he chose a danish with cinnamon topping
