Missed out on autos by 1 point, but their 15 losses was their downfall. Just a couple of those defeats turning into draws has them automatically promoted, fine margins still even over 46 games. Their team were 4th place, 1 point outside the autos and still lost a third of their league matches.

You might regret it, the grass is not always greener on the other side, and although Bristol City could become a Premiership club with Steve Lansdown wealth and backing, you look to have a great set up and owners at Lincoln.

Just to add to my post above, the old grey matter wasn't playing tricks after all ;), the event was held at Valley Parade in 1967, there were an estimated 15,000+ in attendance, the article saying police were being offered £5 notes for those without tickets to get entry (nothing changes).

Winds me up tbh. Zero loyalty these days . He’s mad if he jumps ship , especially in the same divi.

Works both ways, I'm pretty confident that if they are in the relegation places towards the end of the season they would sack him. It's a job and if you expect loyalty then they should show it as well, no matter the outcome of the season a manager should be able to work his contract and not be sacked halfway through if you want loyalty.

They get paid for the remainder of their contract if they are sacked . Thats how they show “ loyalty “.

They very rarely get paid the whole contract and often pay outs are dependent on position in the table.

There's no loyalty from anyone in football and that includes fans, if we get off to a bad start next season fans will soon start to demand Alexander is sacked. Fans only want loyalty one way, they don't mind when a player or manager leaves another club to join them. The reality is for 99% of managers they are a bad 5-10 game spell away from being sacked, if you don't take an opportunity there's always a chance you don't get it again.

He is doing what is right for him and his family and anyone would take a job at a bigger club, with better players, more budget, bigger wage and more chance of a play off fight than a relegation fight.
He doesn't have a big playing career's worth of money to fall back on and you can't pay your mortgage with 'loyalty so of course he'll take a higher paid job elsewhere.

Ever heard of employment law ? You sign a contract , the full entitlement is the remainder of the contract unless it’s a disciplinary which could be gross dismissal . If not it’s full contract. Never ever heard of employment tribunals taking into account “performance” . Can you point me to one where this highlighted. Football may have some caveats such as compensatory payments but employment law, I’ve dismissed a few , all with the remainder of their contract fully paid .

Taking a job elsewhere for higher pay of course he does right, but it doesn’t hide the fact loyalty has no place in football.

Clubs put clauses into contracts that reduce payouts and they effectively put a manager on gardening leave and continue to pay them until they get another job which both reduce financial liability to clubs. When Moyes was sacked by Manchester United there was a clause in the contact that stated he was only entitled to 1 years salary once sacked despite signing a 6 year deal and having over 5 years left when sacked.

This covers some of the types of clauses

There's no more or less loyalty in football than any other walk of life, managers have shown

I understand how it works, just making the point that if you want loyalty and expect somebody to stay when they are riding high on success, you then also need to ride the lows of failure and complete the contract(which you are not doing if you sack/put on gardening leave)

Of course they do, totally agree that’s why the have The League Managers Association. In the absence of any written clauses then the master is Employment Law , which is overarching in all cases.

There is a lot of loyalty in fans! We may not be happy all the time but significant numbers of fans stay with their clubs through ‘thick and thin’! Poor performances, relegations, turmoil, change of owners, supporters favourite players leaving, yet still people follow clubs and that includes City supporters.

Some of us are daft enough to have two clubs to suffer with.

One more friendly to be arranged and then the club will release the full programme including the Austrian camp
