Was Peacock-Farrell mentioned on here at some point? He's signed his Blackpool extension this aft. It's a shallow keeper pool really, unless you take a punt on a PL youth released and hope for the best.

 

In a pre season interview last year GA said a 20-25 a year striker would take up to much of the budget. He wants to spread the goals around. I expect the same this year

So a 'bone idle' 20 goal a season striker isn't really the answer to our problems if we look at the model adopted by successful clubs. We just need better attacking players who contribute to attacking opportunities for the team.

Not necessarily, I'm still hoping we bring in Collins who was on loan at Burton from Coventry (been released) and had a very good season.
Another name I've seen banded around is Tommy O'Reilly at Villa who was exceptional for Crewe on loan. However he's 22 and nowhere near their first team. I'm hoping we could possibly do a Metcalfe sort of deal with Villa to bring him here.

 

And hit 11 at this level the season before

 

Yeah think it was said by someone else earlier that Collins seems to be the best in the market for a L1 team. Few younger gambles to see if they can step up about the place but Collins is the name most will want

 

The Salford keeper who was on loan at Salford would be where I’d look . Think he’s just signed new deal at Sunderland

 

Yeah he got good reviews in L2 last season. Would mean GA has to soften his stance on loanees. Seemingly in his time here so far the loan players have been squad fillers rather than challengers to start

No, we do need more goals I completely agree. I don't think you solve that equation by picking strikers who have scored the most goals. Someone like Fletcher would outscore our current strikers but you'd create a deficit in overall returns by losing the goal contributions of other attacking players like Pointon and Sarcevic by having a striker who requires 'service'. If we signed a couple of forwards who scored 12 goals but contributed to dozens more for other players, would you write them off.

I'd rather have forwards who score 10 apiece in a 70 goal season than a 20 goal a season player in a team that score 50. There's a degree to which having a 'target man' or a conventional number 9 reduces opportunities for other attacking players.

If we are winning, scoring two a game and we have a forward who is instrumental in carving out chances and creating scoring opportunities for team mates, I couldn't care less how many he scores.
