Looking on who scored Beesley was their top performer in a pretty defensive team compared with other players rumoured to be moving for big money.

I am still a little out on Jackson
If he had put that chance away at Bolton, I think we would have made Wembley
    Went down too easily

Should target a younger striker like Wareham. Someone we can develop then sell for a profit.

What is the GA mould? A striker that runs alot and gets you 8 goals a season?

Give me a bone idle one that can actually finish and bags 20+ instead.

I wouldn't mind if we were looking at spending a substantial fee (in city terms) on someone older IF it was a player with a good track record of scoring on the regular, but Beesley is not that player. I'm at the stage now where I'm hoping the talk of Beesley is just smoke and mirrors and we're actually trying to bring in someone better.

Might be some just putting things together because he was a childhood fan and raised in the area, but Fletcher has been linked to Bolton online.

Although I'm sure their fans would hope they can do a lot better.

I'm thinking more about the comment Alexander made with regards bringing in players who have had success and can deal with the pressure that brings, I do hope I'm wrong (if hes signed) but as I posted his overall stats are hardly impressive IMO.

He’s very likely a no no, lived down south all his life, played down south all his life, family all live down there . His dad is a S/M presence ( pain that GA wouldn’t accept) . Other than one prolific season last term he’s done nothing. Didn’t rate his contribution in our last game whatsoever .

A Ron Futcher, John Hawley or Peter Thorne type would do.

I'm hoping after last season (I accept we over achieved) expectations will be running high and rightly so, now is the time to bring younger lads in with potential, obviously there are limits to what Rupp will fund, Fletchers overall record isn't great and he's not a natural striker, I think we have enough of those type of players in the squad.
As you say the lad Wareham scored 19 goals in a team that was relegated, thats the type we should be looking at, I'd be happy with signing 3/4 players who will be in the starting 11 on a regular basis maybe a few young loanees.

Cardiff and Lincoln must be kicking themselves they didn't recruit a 20 goal a season man. In fact none of the promoted efl clubs this season had a player scoring more than about 15 goals.

So why pick Fletcher then? Last year is the first time he's ever reached 20 in a season and actually, if you take away last season then at 30 years old he's previously only scored around 30 goals in his entire career.

He's a terrible example of the type of striker you described.

i can not see Bolton being the slightest bit interested in Fletcher
No way would he cut it in the championship

It would be great to see us develop two or three players per season, either our own, or lads picked up from the lower leagues
Unfortunately i can not see that ever happening, without a change in club direction
It does not help that the prem clubs hoover up all the talent at a young age, leaving the rest to pick up the scraps.

Humphrys didn’t run a lot and didn’t score many. Not bringing in a proven goal scoring number 9 in January was why we failed in the end.

As an option, he has plenty of Championship experience. They lost Kenny,Burstow and Forss so will need to add 3 you would think.

They scored 90 goals each and got promoted - so clearly didnt need one. We scored 58 and missed out on promotion - so clearly we did need one.

    Nice try though.

I believe Salech would have reached 20 goals for Cardiff if it had not been been for the injury that kept him out for almost 5 months, when ever I saw the lad he looked a handful at 6'5" and relished a hard physical battle.
