I think you're right but it's the kind of striker I think we should be looking at providing they aren't too expensive.

 

Olly Sanderson who we had on loan either last season or the one before for a brief spell is apparently going to be chased by EFL clubs this summer. He is 21 now and scored 16 with 3 assists too for Woking in 36 games, a goal every 177 mins last season. Wonder if he might be another Burrell? Fairly forgettable loan spell here which maybe came too early for them, but getting time further down to make their way back up has worked wonders.

Wheatley will be another in a year or so

 

I remember thinking he looked all right, and then for whatever reason he got completely bombed out of the first team never to have another look in.

I wondered if he'd done something wrong?

Would make sense for him to drop down after some sort of incident and rebuild his career. I don't think it will be here, but I can see him having a respectable lower league career.

 

Wheatley's move here was an absolute disaster, he should have been allowed to stay at Northampton where apparently playing well despite not scoring worked for them.

Sometimes the grass isn't always greener, hopefully he's in League Two next season with Northampton where he's valued.

 

Wasn't a coincidence that not one loan signing actually came off positively. Not all those players are of poor quality, some came from the same level or a level above, just that none of them fit what we do. As much down to us a club as opposed to the individuals themselves.

 

Had Wheatley converted that one and one on his debut which he created himself then it might have gone differently. I think he will have a good career might need to control his temperament though

But thats the problem, we were always getting outmuscled by L2 clubs. Us going out and splashing cash just isn't going to happen with the current owner. Again we will be looking for the yellow stickered players and hoping Alexander can keep his magic working.

That's very true. But what's more significant is that in almost every case the fans of the clubs from whom we signed the players in January gave a very accurate appraisal of their attributes. And they were pretty damning. So why didn't our recruitment team know this?
Similarly with Humphrys (not a centre forward but good on the left), Touray (not a wing back) and perhaps Tilt, last summer.

 

Whoa, Touray was an excellent wing back when TW was crocked or out of form….

 

Not true.

If it was we wouldn't have signed players like Humphrys, Sarcevic, Jackson and Metcalfe.

I'm not saying we'll outspend bigger teams but we can certainly pick up influential players because some of them are already at the club.
