City Players now Out of Contract

Formation is key next season. We were nullified to some extent over the last few months of the season and struggled to score goals during that period. We should keep Sarce as a 10 with Jackson taking the role on the right. Tyriek deserves an extension, provided the improvement continues, and wasn’t him playing to get a deal, then returning to the player we saw at the start of the season.

 

If we ditch the wingbacks though, where does he play? He'd have to massively increase his output to play wide left and although I'm not saying that he can't do it, I'd think GA might want to see what else is out there for the money he'll be asking.

Alternatively, If we keep the wing back system it's pretty much a no brainer I'd think.

 

I think I’d be open to offers for Humphrys. He hasn’t improved at all throughout the season and isn’t a starter you can count on. I don’t think he impacted the game as much as Wright or Powell did, and seems to play on the periphery.

 

Need to offload Humps. He has ability but is so lazy and inconsistent. Made no effort last night, kept losing the ball.

 

Totally agree. He has made some terrific interventions, but they are few and far between. You never get the sense that he has given his all. Last night he was supposed to impact the game and he didn’t There is no point having a skill like he has if you can’t be bothered using it.

 

Tyreik definitely improved as the season went on, but apart from fluffing some good goal scoring opportunities I don't think he was bad at the start of the season. In fact he was immense in the home game vs the dogs. He would be my priority number one of out of contact players to secure.

 

Sat with him at the POTY awards. Loves it here (us & Plymouth are his most enjoyable playing experiences) and understands his age is against him. Said he'd sign for 1 year if needed.
Humphry's came over and also sat with us as they're best pals apparently. He was taking the p!$$ out of him all the time and says he'll definately sign just wants a bit more brass.

Agreed. He was one of our best players this season without a doubt, and definitely one we want to keep in terms of sentimentality, but we definitely need to think long and hard about this one if he wants 2 years, which to be fair he could well get from a club in League 2. He's already a player who will struggle playing 2 games a week. I guess we have to consider whether we will be able to get anyone better as well.

Well said. The jury was still out for me but he kept popping up with the odd goal. Last night was the final straw , every ball to him was an instant lost cause, can’t head a ball with conviction, loses a tackle (frequently!) and makes zero effort to get the ball back. All clubs recruit an expensive waste on a two year deal. He’s ours this time round . I can only see him convincing someone in L2 to “ invest” or we are stuck with him?

I want Powell to stay. Yes he needs to be handled well due to propensity for injuries but his value to the team as a whole is clearly visible on the pitch and dressing room. He would have scored last night but for a fantastic save. I know @NorthernMonkey mentioned him earlier.

A worrying number of those are no-brainers to release/send back unfortunately.

That's a lot of players who were nowhere near.

Sarc/Baldwin/Ty are easy decisions, though I half expect Sarc to leave of his own accord, and I frankly wouldn't cry if we released Baldwin and looked for an ambitious replacement.

Like someone else said, I would take Ashby on a one year deal but that's HIGHLY unlikely IMO.
