I agree with all of this. The first part of the season was really enjoyable but as soon as other clubs cottoned on to how we were playing it all became very dull. We did extremely well to get into the playoffs but it was certainly a bridge too far. Since Christmas the constant long ball tactic was mindless, hard to explain and completely ineffective. A big summer ahead if we are to continue to challenge and based on the dreadful January window it's hard to be too confident that we'll get it right. The team collectively has been much better than its individual parts and I don't honestly think there's one player I would be sad to lose. Above all I hope we can become more creative and exciting rather than just pragmatic.
Anyway, we go again as they say. Hope we all have a good summer and return re-energised to get behind the team once more in August.

Everytime I have seen Peacock Farrell he looks a nervous wreck, so no from me. Have we not been linked with Coventry keeper Brad Collins?

A target man. If we are to persist with launching it forrad, and putting crosses in from deep by the wing backs then we need someone to be on the end of those balls.

And someone pacy as a 10.

Whatever we do, our activity in the loan market needs to be carefully considered. I always prefer permanents and appreciate Cozier-Duberry’s, Josh Cullen’s etc don’t always come along, but for me the fewer of them, but those that significantly improve your starting XI is the preferred route - and appreciate it’s not so simple as it’s said. Jack Shepard is a good example from last season.

Are Bolton in the play off final without Cozier-Duberry, I’m not so sure. They’re not a one man team but highlights just how important he was.

I think it’s more there’s been a distinct lack of quality in the balls to him. Look at the long passes and switches Bolton did last night, it would often land at their waste or feet. If ours stay in play they’re often shoulder or head height. As we’re also very predictable players are often on Josh straight away, we caught teams a bit cold at the start of the season but are now a one trick pony. I think his form going is just a bit of a myth. Our main need for improvement is CBs who are better on the ball and can distribute better if we are going to continue with 3 on the field. If not go 433 and bring in a midfielder who’s good on the ball and let Power be the ‘quarter back’ protecting the back 4. As much as I love Bobby and Sarce, when they play together their is little pace up front, another thing which wasn’t as much as an issue early doors but we’ve been nullified more and more as the season went on.

He’s become less effective because other teams found us out is my take , nothing else.

He missed nearly a quarter of their League games through injury and they only lost 1 of those in that time

I agree in part about Neufville but he also has to vastly improve his first touch when the ball is played to his feet.
He’s like a baby elephant at times
This obviously loses him time and we therefore lose momentum as well

More of the worry to me is that everyone in the stands could see our outball had been "found out" months ago and we never really had a plan B.

Full backs stopped giving Neufville or Wright/Touray 20+ yards of space that they were in the summer and autumn. Instead they figured out when Power or Baldwin looked up with the ball at their feet, they just need to pull wider to our WBs and we were marked out of so many games without ever thinking of trying something else. I hope next season we have some type of alternative to turn to if we stick with the long pass out wide tactic.

Agree, will 442 make a return or a base 5-3-2 . Last night start seemed to be one up top meaning an isolated Jackson , I don’t think that’s what was meant but the first half he was too remote ?

I actually think he is most dangerous when the ball bounces off him and it falls kindly for him to continue running with it.

We desperately need a CF to lead the line if we stick with the current system. Someone who can out muscle L1 defenders and win headers, and has decent hold-up play.

They don't even need to be that prolific. We have lots of goals elsewhere.

Jackson isn't it. Bolton defenders dealt with him easily last night. He's much more effective on the right of the front 3.

A couple not necessarily rumours but young and potential.
Jili Buyabu LWB spent the season at FGR
    Abdul AbdulMalik Wing. Boreham wood
    Jayden Wareham ST 20+goals Exeter
Jack Shepherd CB Barnsley out of favour
Jensen Weir CM Wigan Athletic OOC
Could be miles away with these but you just never know what the plans are for the upcoming year

To be fair, if Shepherd is out of favour at a team that finished well below us should we be signing him based on what he did a year ago for us in a lower league? I'd love Wareham but I suspect we'd be up against a number of clubs with deeper pockets. Weir could be interesting. AbdulMalik looked great in the NL play off final but not much to go on.

Good shout, saw him play a full game in the national league cup final, very quick, looks to have a trick and can cross

Haha funny you should mention Jack Shepherd, I said to a mate of mine after Humphrys came on that we really shouldn't be looking at Barnsley cast offs anymore.

We've outgrown that. Not good enough for them, definitely not good enough for us if we want to stay ahead of them!

Simplistic, sure, and different players suit different clubs, but its still a no from me.

Exeter fans are giving any fanbase that ask about Wareham the same warning on him. He scores goals but does very little else for the team, so if you just need a man up top he's going to be on a lot of radars but sounds like the work rate isnt there.

And any fan that remotely has a pop at a Wareham performance online, gets abuse within moments from his dad. His dad has seemingly given most their fans a word or two over the season who dare have a pop at his son who is destined for the top, and they wouldn't even have a chance if it weren't for him, that kind of naff.
