It could have easily of been avoided if they'd stopped there younger end from turning right into us all and instead escorting them left.
You've only got to see what happens on Midland Road after "big" games we can't right towards Town and we are made to walk the long way around.

Yes that's fair comment I'm not a regular train traveler so I can understand your point, my main concern was the police who had a job to do which wasn't helped by fans from both sides but it's a very long time since
I felt as uneasy/vunerable as I did on leaving the ground on Saturday night, indiscriminately charging fans with the horses.
I've read several fans on the forum of around my age have stopped attending away games and after Saturday night I will have to give it some serious thoughts, once again having to stand for the whole 90+ minutes, is becoming more and more difficult.

For the home game v Bolton there was a march from North Parade to the ground, I was very disapointed to see morons throwing bottles at Bolton fans which then saw Bolton fans throw them back, especially with the number of children in the march. This is why it flares up, because of the odd moron hidden in the crowd.

Grown men ffs who can't walk between each other after a game, it's embarassing when you think about it.

Bolton away is a pretty unique experience in that there appears no obvious plan to keep fans segregated as they leave the stadium. This is distinct from other away matches I've been to this season with large city away followings (Barnsley, Wigan, Donny, Rotherham etc). It's an ugly atmosphere as soon as you step outside of the ground and unless you're looking for trouble it's a case of keep your head down and get away from the area as quickly as possible. Not how it should be in this day and age but given the stadium has been in existence now for many years, it seems the problem is beyond the capabilities or in reality the finances of those who could do something about it.

We walked out into the throng of Bolton fans, did get a brief warning from one of the police officers but we didn't have any trouble, despite walking with the home fans for a while. I think having a 12 year old in tow does keep some of the dickheads away ;)

Agree, there was no plan whatsoever. The police were just being reactive rather than proactive with the situation. They got hold of one youth from Bolton who had a balaclava on and were wrestling him to the ground. Then 2 or 3 horses were almost 'galloping' through the crowds towards the Bolton fans side. There appeared little thought to their movements. Horses were scraping between the parked cars and at times I felt the horses were not being controlled at all and rearing up. The horses were being used as weapons and being steered towards fans. The atmosphere changed when the horses started charging about, pushing fans and the officers shouting at people.

We had to leave somebody behind from the Corn Dolly coach. He was with the police, looked shaken and medics looked to be attending to bleeding wounds on his legs. Andy spoke to the police and said he was on our coach and they said he would be going with them!! One of the most decent blokes you could meet. Don't know if he had been arrested or whether they were looking after his wounds presumably from being caught by a horse?

Similar events happened at the league game and no apparent plan seemed to be in operation...

I think the location of Bolton doesn't help. The retail park is a bland set up, we went for a beer where we parked up 20 miles away and then car shared. Peterborough the barge, and Barnsley saw many supporters mixing pre match. We were in a Home fans pub pre Orient and a bar at Burton( Corn Dolly also called in and gave us a lift to the stadium). After the games supporters were not segregated and there was no issue. Bolton after the league game was bleak. You would think they could have some form of temporary barrier in place say from 4.50-5.10. Effectively 5 minutes before the scheduled conclusion of the game for twenty minutes. Bolton was the least relaxed of the ones l went to this season.

As you suggest 20 or so strategically placed barriers at the exits for the home fans would have been a start, I'm surprised after the away game earlier in the season the police didn't demand the club did more to make sure the same didn't occur last Saturday.

I wonder how the police will control Midland Rd on Thursday with Bolton fans being in the middle. Will they keep them behind?

It'll be fine. They can get themselves off while we're all on the pitch celebrating.

What should help the police is that it's effectively a final so one way or another one side will be celebrating at the end and likely to stay around for longer so it should split fans up a bit.
They closed off some of the side roads from being TL Dallas onto Midland Road from South Parade but not sure that will help this time with home fans from TL Dallas and 2 Midland Road blocks having to come out onto Midland Road as the only option.

Looks like there are 207 blue dots. Little over 100 in both the TLD and the remaining block in the MR
