And selling them online is not helpful to those that are at work with no access to a computer.

Despite spending around 2 hours yesterday sorting tickets out, mainly because the system had issues about the category of our group (demanding people who were seniors applied for adult tickets and vice versa) and one person who couldn’t be recognised by the system at all.
I actually had no problem logging in at all, other than having to switch the VPN off.
I actually bought the tickets when I was in London, and couldn’t have camped out or indeed visited VP.
Online sales seems the fairest system to me.

So an OAP fan who’s been supporting the club since the 60s or 70s, but is no longer able to attend regular away games, should be denied the opportunity to attend a big playoff game at nearby Bolton because all the younger diehards with more money/mobility should get priority. Is that what you’re saying?

There was/is a 48 hour window, when tickets are only available to Season Ticket holders. So people would have an opportunity when they finished their shift or indeed had a break from work.
If there are around 16,000+ Season Ticket holders and 2,000+ tickets for Bolton, that means there are actually around 6,000 surplus tickets available.
Everyone will get an opportunity for a home ticket. There are a lot available in the Midland Road, Blocks F&G. A new experience for some.

I missed out by a few hundred points, I was so confident I'd get a ticket I booked the Premier inn next to the ground. More fool me. It's going spare if any wants it who's got tickets.

Bang on . The proportions who through work and location who can’t get to the ground must be quite high in 2026 . Why go back to the 60-70’s of literally queuing round the ground to get tickets @Bronco@Bronco @Chippy@Chippy . Done it a few times and it’s not fun! That would be nuts !

Well……in a word yes because how far do you go back in history to accommodate fans of yesteryear?
I know a guy I went to school with who supported Liverpool back in the 80’s, went everywhere and even had a John Barnes t-shirt never off his back.
Should he have an ‘opportunity’ to get an away ticket at Everton?

If Bradford City received 2000 tickets for the Bolton game this Saturday night, and the rules for the play off competition states 250 seats maximum can be held back

    3.3

A maximum of 250 complimentary tickets, excluding those covered under Rule 3.4, and any tickets

required to be made available under any commercial agreement entered into by The League, may

be issued. Any tickets in excess of this number must be accounted for at the appropriate rate.

On that basis the top 1500 away supporters doesn’t sound bad.

Don’t know if one way is better than other but Bolton’s tickets for the second leg are online only.

Playing devil's advocate that OAP has had a life time of watching City. Harsh telling a young city fan that has put the hard yards in over the last couple of years theres no ticket for you cos old Billy down the road followed them all over 30 years ago. I've done more than my fair share of city games over the last 40 odd years but I don't resent fans getting a ticket over me as I've not been to too many away games over the last few years.

    2nd cut off 3900. I was 400 off, I thought we'd get around 3000 tickets.

I think the club would be damned by some whatever way they go
They have to have a way of allocating away tickets and it does appear reasonable that those who have travelled most get first choice. its just a shame that after getting 5000 for the league game , the allocation is only 2051 for the playoff match
I have attended 2 away games this season and would not dream of getting a ticket ahead of someone who has gone to the effort of attending 5 - 10 - 15 etc
As for home tickets, the demographics of VP become an issue for matches like this. The club obviously want as many home fans as possible and to stay within the 2000 rule
Maybe they should have had a period of sales for Midland road season ticket holders to purchase seats that are not taken by season ticket holders in the rest of the stadium, giving them a reasonable chance of selecting an acceptable alternative. Then season ticket holders to purchase their own seat and then general sale
They have had time to think about this, we have been in and around the playoff spots since August and with the second leg at home time to organise the sales periods
I would also imagine with an 8 pm kick off on a Thursday night and potential of extra time and penalties , the game could finish just before 11pm, meaning younger season ticket holders might not be able to attend
I am not taking my 7 year old grandson, having to get him home and then myself home after. I also know of two other season ticket holders who sit near myself that are away on that night.
The club could have asked for fans like this to contact them, thus freeing up more seats initially for the Midland road gang to choose from.
The game could turn out to be a non event after Saturday, hopefully not, but a bit more thought could have gone into this initially
On another note, why only have the two points of sale open inside the club shop, when they could have had the six in the Burlington ticket office, thus reducing waiting times.

The trouble with that option is that around 5000 of us went. My son is disappointed, he went to Bolton away and has just under the number of points needed yesterday but he is philosophical about it. It is what it is and at least he can watch on the TV.
