Stockport having all those games in hand to play late on with all their injuries is really biting them in the arse now. There's still a world where if they lose to Barnsley away, and then we win or draw, Stevenage and Luton win, then Stockport drop out after looking absolutley nailed on 2 or 3 weeks back.

 

Games in hand are never the equiv of points in the bag. Challenor sounded crestfallen post match. They have zero defence unlike us with a weakened up front?

 

They just cant get going at the minute because of fitness. Like Louis Barry getting a hattrick at the weekend but having to be benched this week to save his injury prone legs. Diamond and Mothersille aren't offering much either lately, Sidibe looked like he was getting his legs at one point but hasn't scored in a little now either since Wootton was no longer his strike partner and instead his CB cover.

They are off it at the back and the front line are struggling to find any consistency with form or fitness. I must admit, Stockport are the team i'd want to face over two legs.

Not that remarkable when you look at our current form. My personal opinion, is that most of the clubs in the top 6 (bar Lincoln and Cardiff - so lets say the play off spots), are there on the basis of results around them. When was it, when we went through a bumpy patch, we were still in the top three due to everyone else having a hiccup. Bolton have lost the second fewest games (with Cardiff 8), but have the most draws in the League (18). 18 draws and 3rd place is ridiculous.

 

Make no bones about it this is a fantastic opportunity thats presented itself such is the level of quality in League One this season.
Ive said previously i never envisaged such a scenario after last seasons exploits.
Fair play to Alexander and everyone behind the scenes who have played a part no matter how small in getting us to where we are today.
The outcome is most definatley in our hands and the noise coming out of Valley Parade last night was summed up in these few words.
"Were not done yet"

 

Might be something to get the Stockport players back into form, but Barnsley played a keeper who come through their academy last night and he's going to start on saturday too.

 

He might be world beater or have something to prove
Either way get a least a point on Saturday and deal with the playoffs if we get there

Wellens is not a happy man. I see he is taking full responsibility for the ‘wasteful’ season. He should be grateful Exeter didn’t win and on his knees to City because we didn’t let them.

 

I assume he had a say in signing the players that have wasted his time, and that he was involved in training them week in, week out but yeah, none of it is his fault, obvs.

 

Heard it played on the radio this morning - be interesting to see if players or manager win that battle. Felt like a ‘“get me out of here” … moment !
