Had a long conversation this week with a guy connected to Lincoln. He said all of the York 1st team players are paid £6/7000 per week which is more than Lincoln have been able to pay.

that is £3.5m a year just for the starting 11. Not sure how they will stay in the league rules next season paying that sort of money

They can’t, but don’t have to let existing contracts take their course ?

If by 'league rules' you mean the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) which governs how the EFL impose a cap on the playing budget in Lges 1& 2, it's relatively easy to exceed but somewhat expensive for the owners. They simply have to inject equity into the club to cover the difference (and a bit more) between the SCMP value and the actual playing budget. Loans can't be used to bridge the gap and the amount of equity which has to be provided instead is 2x the excess over the SCMP value in Lge 2. There are no transitional arrangements for newly promoted teams.

As a (simplified) example, let's say a club's income is £5m. Its SCMP limit would be 50% of that in Lge 2 or £2.5m. If its actual playing budget is £4m (or £1.5m in excess of the SCMP). the owners would have to inject £3m (2x £1.5m) of equity into the club. As I suggested it's a very expensive remedy. Of course, there are several clubs in Lge 1 whose playimg budgets exceed their SCMP limit and whose owners follow a similar route to cover their club's excess. We played one only yesterday! The multiplier is slightly lower in Lge 1 at almost 1 7x. That's just a consequence if how the SCMP mechanism works. There's nothing to suggest we exceed our own SCMP limit since no additional equity has been injected as yet..

This explanation is a simplified version of SCMP. The full details run to several pages in the EFL regs which you can read at your leisure .. if you really want to!

17,000 was the official figure. A YouTube vlog , which to be fair are decent fans, said it was 8k at most so City had treble . Many fans left at half time apparently?

2 matches tonight that have an impact on the permutations for Saturday with Stockport playing Port Vale and Peterborough playing Mansfield, both need a draw to secure their status. If Peterborough keep a loss down to 1 or 2 they should be ok but any more and it gives Exeter a chance of catching them

Stockport losing would be good to keep another one in the mix of dropping out of the playoffs! But I can't see them getting any less than a draw against already relegated Port Vale. Peterborough probably less relevant as whatever happens to those around them Exeter still only have a chance of survival if they win. But I guess if Peterborough were to secure safety tonight it's better for us as it means there are fewer variables in Exeter's favour on Saturday.
