Cant find if it was mentioned, but Rotherham were the first team relegated from L1 this season.

Rotherham United's recent history..... fair to say they don't like hanging around in a division for too long
    2017: Relegated
    2018: Promoted
    2019: Relegated
    2020: Promoted
    2021: Relegated
    2022: Promoted
    2024: Relegated
    2026: Relegated

Also, Lee Clark said a handful of players either phoned-in sick or were injured at home the morning of yesterdays game and couldn't play. Sounds like a very toxic place at the minute and a few have called it a season already.

I get what you're saying but ultimately it counts for little - give Bolton the beating Stevenage 5 - 1 trophy! When Huddersfield went up to prem in 2017 via the playoffs they managed it without any of their players scoring a goal! Obviously I hope we do more than that but if we achieved the same we would take it and it matters not what kind of impressive results have preceded the playoffs, everything is reset.

Mock the result all you want but every chance that they may meet again in the playoffs so it will give Bolton a massive boost should they face each other

In the playoffs, we only need to put 1 past the opposition if we can keep a clean sheet
Admittedly Saturday looked like we could not do that, but playoffs are usually nervous affairs and it will be the team that copes best with the situation that prevails, current form or results against the teams involved during the season wil count for nothing
We beat Middlesbrough 3 out of 4 in 88 and still missed out on promotion

yeah true. For a similar reason our result against Bolton could give a big boost to whoever comes out on top - my money would be on a cagey draw though!

The thing that is worrying whoever gets in the playoffs will have better firepower than us agre we really capable of hurting teams should we be trailing ????
I know the mentality is different but unless we do take a lead i think we are bang in bother :(

Depends on who needs the result a couple of dodgy games incoming could see us needing to win that game or Bolton maybe after 3rd place

That's one thing that's massively in Boltons favour at the minute. They've already in April beaten Plymouth at their place, drew with Stockport, hammered Stevenage and they will play us Huddersfield and Luton in their final 3. Recent wins or at the least levelling out against your play off rivals will give them confidence and the teams they beat some fear.

Think i said it on other threat, but i can totally see us being lacklustre again against Barnsley and Plymouth, maybe get a draw or two at best and then just turn on the style and give Bolton a good thumping next weekend. We need to find that spark we had at the start of the season against the bigger teams in the league before we enter the play offs.

Weird coincidences of football, but the last two sides that Bolton have beaten at home with a 4 or more goal gap between the sides on the night, both those sides ended up winning the play offs a few months later. Sunderland in 2022 and Oxford in 2024....... so best of luck in the Championship to Stevenage! :D

yeah i worry about that too. I just really hope we can actually get a win or draw on Saturday to take a bit of the pressure off.

Nightmare scenario is going to Exeter and both teams needing a result to reach playoffs / stay up respectfully

In the play offs you rarely need to score 5 to go through and even more rarely do you need that in the final. The final especially is nearly always a very tight match, since 2000 only 7 league 1 finals have been won by more than 1 goal.
Charlton were the lowest scorers going into the play offs last season and won it by scoring 2 and conceding 0.

It’s an area that needs a serious upgrade come the summer, wherever we find ourselves
Humphrey doesn’t want to play there and isn’t good enough to lead the line, no matter what GA thinks. Sarce is knocking on and time will catch up with him . Hopefully the year at this level pushes Bobby onto greater things and although Jackson looks lively, will he score 20+
Mullin and Wheatley won’t be here.

Sounds like Reading are going to be sacking their boss now that the play offs are pretty much done. Seemingly a player publicly called out Richardsons management style and the squad are sticking together and a chop is on the way.

The play offs are a complete lottery.

I've seen some people get really excited and are handing Bolton promotion because they beat a Stevenage team who's goalkeeper played somewhat of a blinder on Saturday but didn't look like he know the name of his defence last night.

Bolton are prone to bad results like the rest of us, that's why after 42+ games we are on a similar number of points. They drew 0-0 with Northampton and Donny recently and lost to Port Vale.

We just need to get over the line, the line currently stands at 76 points, but it will go down as teams drop points, then in the play offs it's two games, where anything can happen.

Two years ago Bolton finished 10 points clear of Oxford, beat them 5-0 in the league in March then lost 2-0 to them in the play-offs.

For me Luton are the team to watch, Northampton tonight which will relegate them, and likely push them into 7th with 4 games to play, 3 behind Stevenage.

Same every summer, even when we had Cook!

Id take Fletcher from Blackpool on a freebie and then look to invest. Maybe go back in for Beasley if the price is right. This is all L1 talk btw.
