The only question I have about that article is that it does have the 15&20 yellow card suspension wrong as they say 2 but 15 is 3 and 20 is a disciplinary commission.

The screenshot below is the FA regulation as point 26 is what I think makes him eligible for the play offs even if he gets to 15 as I think the play-offs are classed as a separate competition.

The wording of the AI doesn't sound like it knows and only guessing, the last bullet point is says "the three match ban would likely carry over to the play offs".

The wording is open to interpretation. ‘Only be served in the competition in which the cautions were accumulated’! Mmm you could argue that the Play Offs are not a separate competition, but an extension of and the specified conclusion of the League One season.

As you rightly say, it’s all in the words . “Could”, “might” , “ possible” oft used and utterly ambiguous .

Because the EFL have a seperate set of regulations for the play offs and call it "the play off competition" that would suggest it is counted as a separate competition from the league.

I've had a look back through the last 10 seasons for all 3 divisions to see if anyone has been in the same position and surprisingly only 2 players in that time have got to 15 yellow cards (James Perch for Scunthorpe in 18/19 and Jack Colback for Forest in the same season, neither got to the play offs and Colback got his 15th yellow card in the 4th last game). This probably explains why there is so little mention of it on Google as.

    13 cards is ridiculous.

Don't mind if they're for fouls where he's taking one for the team, but he's also been gobbing off quite a lot this season.

For a captain who is permitted to speak to the referee on behalf of the team, it's altogether too many.

No surprise to see we have the second worst discipline in the division, and I wouldn't say we were particularly rough, either.

What about Andrew Davies getting sent off at Cheltenham in the last match of 2012/13 in a meaningless game and missing the first leg of the playoffs?

The source is that large language model ChatGPT and it is often wrong. I wouldn’t place a much faith in those things as some do. They have often been wrong to the point I don’t bother with en anymore. The post from Stafford Bantam seems more legit, but again, would be interested in source.
The Sunderland story is the best to go on for me, as the media at least do have a duty to speak some semblance of truth..(officially!)

Red cards are different as they apply across all competitions excluding the EFL Trophy, yellow cards and accumulation bans are competition specific

Agree, I always thought it was classed as a “seperate” competion as the league fixtures have actually been completed.

I tried to look that up, Kev, but it isn't a published stat.

But I would say 4 or 5 as a guess, could be wrong?

Well that is something you can control, however poor the decision.

I've gone through the yellows on Transfermarkt and they have it as 3 which are all home games (Orient, Wigan and Exeter), they have Lincoln down as a dissent yellow card but I think that is the yellow card that never happened as they have him down as 14 so haven't take that one off. There are a couple that don't have a reason showing and I can't see a reason for it in Simon Parker's blog.
Looking back at them I can't remember a few that were needless fouls right at the end of a match or yellows like Huddersfield where he got in a fight for no reason.
It's been one of the things that has annoyed me with him as he shouldn't be doing it when he is so experienced. Last season Shepherd was the same early on but then he got it under control and I was hoping Power would do the same but he hasn't.

It's pathetic. I don't chalk it down as 'passion'. It's performative like a lot of the stuff he does vocally. He's been a very important player for us, possibly under rated but he needs to cut out the stuff that he thinks makes him look like a leader on the pitch. Leading by example through gameplay ticks that box.

I think it’s about striking a balance. Over the course of the season so far he’s probably got it right but indeed there have been occasions he’s stepped a little too far, highlighted by 13 yellows to date
