    Last years as a comparison:

Other wages & salaries up by £640,000 in a year?
Would this be the first year with Sharpe's salary included? Plus the rises in minimum wages and Employer NI contributions?

Operating costs up by about £600k too.
This would be the start of all the inflated energy price rises?

And Bolton just posted a £13.9m loss. Sounds like they could be in trouble if they don’t go up this season.

    From Alan Biggin's notes:

This has been supported by the ultimate holding company, ER Sportsgroup GmbH, which has contributed £5.4m to date.

So this is the level of funding from Stefan (excluding his purchase)!

I remember working in Bolton back in the 80’s and even then they were massively in debt and close to going bust. They just always seem to be in huge debt and chuck money at it (and not doing it very well). Makes our loss seem quite small in comparison.

Yeah, I kinda guessed it would be something inflation-y that would more likely be the reason for the rise.

A few other L1 books announced this morning from Kieran Maguire...

Doncaster Rovers lost £3.7 million in 2024/25 talking total losses since the company was formed to over £42 million. The club is able to continue trading due to owners putting in money via a combination of shares and loans.

Stockport County lost £9.2 million in 2024/25 when the club finished 3rd in League One. Average losses in League One have tripled since 2022. Stockport have now lost more than £30 million since the new holding company was formed in 2010. Shares issued to owner keep the club solvent.

Bolton Wanderers operating loss is at £14m, a 32% rise from last season. Total losses over the years now up to £40m.

Many clubs are now finding that stadia upkeep costs , as they all age, are literally going through the roof ?

The unfairness in Bolton’s case is they accumulated huge, huge debts chasing the Prem dream, which were then totally wiped out , to creditors huge disadvantage 7-8 years ago when the club changed hands . Added to that were point deductions . That freedom from debt gave them a huge playing advantage over anyone in L1?

More evidence that Stockport’s owners are “ investing” funds to try and buy them promotion. £9.2 losses in one season is evidence enough ?

Suppose it's how long the Stott funding tap is allowed to run at this rate? Seems like it's open. Bolton on the other hand might have to start changing their ways from the sounds of things if promotion doesn't happen. Lutons flash sales are on the verge too it seems as their promotion bids seems to be over.

You can see why in recent seasons, a team or two at least per season go from promotion chaser to relegation candidates when the money tap is turned off.

Yeh Sharpe wont be cheap, you would think 6 figures. Not sure what the rest is. Maybe Hughes pay off although not sure if that will have been 24/25 accounts?

I notice vs the last 2 years we didn't have the £1m transfer incomes to balance the books. We seem to have run a bit dry in the academy, selling starlets for profit.

Boltons wage bill was £18.5m. Christ.....

We had the same first team wage bill as Grimsby for 24/25 at £4.8m. Despite our turonver been £2.3m higher.

Looks like on Boltons books, they didn't separate playing squad, staff etc from "all club staff", that £18.5m is for 447 members of staff. With 214 members of Management and Admin, 125 matchday staff, 41 direct staff (whatever the f that is) and 67 footballers, but they just pilled all the outgoings into one listing for wages.

Yeah sod knows what Grimsby were doing financially last season. They must have been overpaying more than a fair few but with the signings they'd made this season, that must be more than £5m in league two for 25/26?
