Cook wouldnt even want to return if City recalled him (not that they can)…..he’s out of contract in a few months and playing for what is likely the last contract of his career. GA isn’t ever offering him one.

All this nonsense about bringing him back is silly. We can’t anyway, we have a contract with Grimsby that lasts until the summer.

Would he have been an asset during these last few weeks ? undoubtedly he would have scored in my view, but he wanted to go and get his end of career contract and why would we stop him? He is legend status at this club and I wish him well.

He’d been scoring for fun in a team that played to his ‘fox in the box’ strengths. He must have been loving it. Then we recalled him and played him as a lone back to goal target man again, with predictably terrible results. No real surprise that he wasn’t enthused by this turn of events.

Unfortunately it's impossible. Loans are now dated until the start of the next registration window so they can't play for another club other than the loan club until the next season.

There have been times I'd have taken Wellens.

I think he'd have got us promoted last season, but in the end we went for GA and he got us promoted anyway.

I would still consider him, but I think we'd need someone more like GA than Wellens if we were to make it to the Championship. It will be 100 % pure graft to try and gather 50 points which I don't necessarily think is Wellens' bag. Then again, if we were able to sign actual Championship quality, then sure, Wellens-ball could work.

 

Please.. cooky is a league 2 player.. the teams he may have done well against we've already played..

 

I do actually think he would have done better than what we have apart from our injured striker/winger Jackson .......Cookies overall play and defensive role and assists is pretty good. Its easy to say but we should have tried harder have pushed the boat out with a striker and paid some cash... Cooky is gone and good luck to him...
