Subbing him made no difference either. Simple fact, he either plays or our chances of winning diminish a lot. Today was just one of those days.

We have won back to back games on many occasions this season, as recently as 3 days ago. You really do talk absolute nonsense

We are naturally weaker away. We should've taken the hit and saved ourselves for Tuesday night. I wonder how much the 'noise' around 'tinkering' pressured GA into keeping the same team. We now have a tough game Tues night with a tired team that have had a tough schedule. Tues night is now a must not lose game.

No, we just don't have the quality in reserve. Should we have a squad that were playing league 2 football last year to be equipped for an automatic promotion to the Championship the season after. Mad expectations imo.

Give over man, you need to turn it in regarding unrealistic expectation.

You don't get to second in the league in January by fluke. If you are there in January then realistically you deserve to be there.

What I do expect is players to be able to perform twice a week and to be able to put in performances that don't resemble a shambles against a limited football team.

You say we don't have the strength in depth, but that strength in depth was serving us well until Christmas.

Then guess what, someone had a brain fart and replaced that strength in depth which are neither good enough not fit enough.

Not rocket science that two of the biggest drop off in forms have been walker and neufville, neither of whom have any direct competition for there place

Sarce and Wright shouldn’t have started IMO. We could haw easily managed with Tourey at LWB and changed the back 3. Ever growing problem is how to replace Sarce which surprised me why Lapslie wasn’t even on the bench. I’m not one for changing the formation but 3 in the middle and Mullin and Humphrys up top could have been worth considering today. But I’m playing more Championship Manager than reality in those opinions.

Only benefit to the subs is Sarce and Bobby got less minutes and off earlier, ahead of Tuesday’s when we will need them.

It’s just odd this seemed the most appropriate time in the season to switch things up, yet GA decided not to.

Poor today, but they’re league 1 so you won’t get consistent quality. I’m not having the resting players bollocks. GA picked the right team, it didn’t pay off but he’d have gotten far more stick had he made 5 changes and not made a go of it. Mullin sadly has been a poor signing, say what you want about Wheatley but he starts over him every day of the week. No wonder Wrexham fans said they were shocked he got another league 1 club. Shocking how a crap team like Wigan improve upfront by bringing in Taylor and we bring in the player not deemed good enough for them.

Why do you think they watered an already wet pitch I wonder and Wigan warming up on the muddiest part of the field pre kick off nowhere near the normal warm up spot according to Raynor ?

Trouble is we've now put ourselves under unnecessary pressure for Tuesday night, once again we lumped the ball up to the kid, one good through ball and he left his marker for dead and got a good shot off, if we are going to persist with that long ball game away we might as well start Mullin.

We didn't really lose much strength in depth in January.
    • Cook wasn't good enough for what we need and we coped fine without him for most of the first half of the season, he's started 3 of the last 4 games for Grimsby on the bench
    • Pattison was being found out tactically and he's now sat on Walsall's bench
    • Halliday I can accept was a loss but he was wanting to leave and if we didn't allow him to take that great contract I don't think that would have gone down well
    • Byrne, I don't think anyone was upset when he left
    • Kavanagh, the only way he was getting games was as a no 10 and he didn't play well there
    • Richards has made 2 starts for Crawley and now can't make the squad
    • Leigh said he wanted to go
    • McIntyre wasn't getting in the squad
Back up goalkeepers for league 1 clubs that are good enough to start in league 1 are very rare, they cost a lot which is mainly wasted wage and only certain goalkeepers would accept coming in as a back up. The goalkeeping situation is no different to what it has been since probably the 12/13 season with Duke and McLaughlin

Very good point about Mullin and Taylor. There was no way Huddersfield would have loaned Taylor to us though. I am baffled why Huddersfield couldnt get a tune out of him.

Mullin has been a very poor signing for sure

I'd still take Cook over Mullin though.

We didn't gain any did we?

We might as well have kept what we had, the rest are as waste of time.

Mullin a fan favourite to replace cook. Waste of time him being here, we aren't going to play to suit him

Evans, signed for three months purely to cover a 3 game suspension. Might aswell have kept pattison who at least offered something different in midfield.

    Newcastle lads, as expected shite

Wheatley, again we expected from a non scoring striker.

It wasn't a fluke we were there, nothing to do with bloated expectations, we were there on merit and the board shit the bed

We didn’t lose any strength in depth outside of Halliday IMO.

Many probably would have, but maybe wasn’t as straight forward as that. If Jackson doesn’t get injured, ask yourself how much Cook would have played based on Mullin’s game time so far. Would that have been fair on Cook? Assume he didn’t want that either given he’s left for game time.
