He just needs a goal. I can see why he’s picked him no question. They are wide open at the back.

 

Really good half from us, they are struggling to live with us and but for the keeper and some last ditch defending we'd be more ahead. They look very poor and have only got worse after we scored. Pitch is horrendous which won't be helping, might be why we seemed to take a while to settle.

Really hope we can extend our lead early second half. Then maybe able to manage game time for the likes of Sarce. But i won't get ahead of myself. Surely Vale will get better second half?

 

Good half but need to kill off the game. Space should hopefully open up as they have to chase the game and push up a bit more.

If we can get another 1 or 2 by 70 minutes then that would be the perfect time to be able to make a few subs and give some players a rest.

 

Great first half. Everyone playing well. Still don’t get the Wheatley hate - he’s been all over their back line and made excellent runs. Yep he should have scored that one on one, but I don’t think Mullin or Hump would have even reached the penalty box without getting caught.

Metcalfe a little quiet but doing his job.

Important thing not to take our foot off the gas now. Next goal must come from us.

 

Mullins wouldn't have been able to lose his defender like Wheatley did from his own half, sorry mate we'll have to disagree about Wheatley .

Let's hope that was our poor half, we need that second goal this lot look really poor or knackered after the Sunderland game.

 

I have to be honest whilst the finish could have been improved on in terms of lifting above the keeper he did really well to out pace and out muscle 2 defenders and get in a shooting position. I'm not sure either Mullin or Humphrys would have been making that chance in the first place.

 

wheatleys best game so far just his finishing puts himself about works hard.
if he could just get a goal will do him the world of good.

There is a footballer in Wheatley, just not a striker
Probably better playing as a winger
He has the skill and pace, but turns into a sponge in front of goal

 

He's had more shot since his blinder against Doncaster, he looks full of confidence

 

Not talking about the weak effort from Wheatley Dave, I'm talking about overall, either Humps or Mullin would cause more trouble in their box. Feel we'd be at least two up with those two.
