This morning whilst doing chores at home I have been listening to Talksport on the radio.
Jim White, Simon Jordan and Martin Keown were discussing the ugly scenes at Ibrox yesterday.

Jordan made my blood boil when he said " It happened in the play-off final at Wembley when Millwall and Bradford City fans invaded the pitch". That is a blatant lie and sums up the knowledge of these so called pundits.

It’s a lie because city fans did not go on the pitch
We just wanted to get out and get home
It was the Millwall fans on the pitch goading city players, management and fans, just like the arseholes at Reading in the cup I am not proclaiming city fans to be saints, but get the facts right
To this day I still don’t know what punishment the family club of the year got for the actions of their supporters

You'll have to produce better facts Simon I've read both articles and in neither does it say Bradford City fans invaded the pitch, as @andyc@andyc says us City fans just wanted to get out as not merely was it toxic on the pitch but Millwall fans the other side of the dividing netting where we were sat were gouding our party all the game, they weren't kids they were grown men I'd suggest many over 40 years of age.
They come a very close second to the Manchester United fans who were a disgrace to the club when we gave them the North West section of the ground back in the Premier days, I've posted many times they were some great memories and some not so great memories, rubbing shoulder with the big boys but overall I'm in no rush to get back there it's not all it's made out to be.

Bunch of cowards, throwing bottles down onto families going into the tube station. It wasn't a minority, there were hundreds involved in being thugs after the match.

    Utter scum.

Did he actually say City fans did though? No he doesn't. He just says fans went on the pitch and caused mayhem. It's like how he doesn't mention it was England fans in the Euros. He is making a general point that its not a unique situation

I was there and my recollection was that it was only Milwall spectators on the pitch.

Living in the south a fair few are aware of the types of feckless (baghead) stains that do hooligan tourism on the busses up from medway. Abject winkers that day and many since.

Am i imagining it or did the ointment and service crew get together to welcome the stains to Leeds the next season?

It’s by implication , the push back on the comment is there for all to see and responded to accordingly . I’m not on my own .

If you watch/listen to the whole thing there is no implication imho, unless you also think he is implying Italians caused issues at the Euro Final. He is simply responding to the suggestion it only happens in that match. He is giving examples of where such acts of ultra hooliganism happening elsewhere.

I do wonder how many responding have actually listened to it and aren't just believing what is a blatant lie by the OP by saying he specifically said Bradford fans went on the pitch

To generalise as 'fans' does not distinguish which set of fans actually went on to the pitch. As I haven't heard the piece I'm not sure as how ambiguous the wording is but for fact purposes it needs to be made clear it was one set of fans on the pitch that day, namely Millwall. Which means it was nothing like the incident at Ibrox yesterday where two sets of supporters encroached onto the playing surface.

He is responding to a claim that it only ever happens in this game. He responds saying it happened in England and mentions that game and the England/Italy game. He doesn't mention which fans were at fault in either as it's not really important to the point that ultra led hooliganism isn't just restricted to the old firm clubs.

Both sets of the younger fans modelling themselves on ultras is cringey as anything. Not lole that when they were down here for Stuarts testimonial.
That said Celtics lot, banned from their own ground, hold a large element of the blame coming on the pitch. Was no surprise that the rangers young clowns responded. Surprised they had the time to attend what with medieval regimes to defend and other nations flags to wave.

Don’t ever want to defend Simon Jordan, but he never said City fans went on the pitch.
