I wonder whether the Whelan/Sharpe family have ever shown a genuine interest in buying the club

It appears to me that Rupp now fully understands the reality of what is required to fund a Championship club and having to do that from his own pocket. I doubt we will be promoted but the fact that we are established in the Top 6 at the moment might be attractive to some potential owners but costly for whoever that might be.

Unfortunately the limitations of VP might rightly put off simebody with longer term plans. I'm not referring to the ownership issue here but to the limitations at VP for development and the lack of potential for increased capacity. VP is effectively hemmed in on all four sides which would make increasing the capacity a very expensive exercise and not to be taken lightly.

I suspect that in Rupp's mind, a new owner offering £10 mill for the club wouldn't be sufficient. He paid over £5 mill for the club originally and since then has already loaned the club somewhere in the range of £3-4 mill (we'll know a more accurate figure shortly) plus whatever he's provided in addition this season. All together that must be approaching the £10 mill suggested asking price as in the article. I can't imagine him selling just to cover what he's put into the club having earned nothing for himself. We'll have to wait and see how successful he is in finding a buyer who will at least earn him a return

That's only the price of a 2028/29 season ticket!

Possibly considers it a lucky escape. League 2 mid table, what value then?

We're on the bounce, wonderfully so, with championship a possibility the stretch would be too much for him. Saw as much in the transfer window, away from whether the response by some fans was justified, and highlighted what could turn into a discontent if we start to slump back over coming seasons.

Does bring about the safe and limiting , known vs a role of the dice on a new owner. Something we know better than most with our Geoffrey.

The club is a fantastic spectacle following wise, marketing, engagement; always feel slightly offended we've not had interest so far, set against the Lincolns of this world.

Lincoln owning their ground and relatively new training centre probably helped

Personally I'm not sure the numbers 100% accurate. Their whole thing has been about finding accounting loopholes and with their deal last year with UEFA meaning they won't be punished again and the PL penalty being between 2 and 12 points I suspect they have deemed the points penalty to be acceptable and they have then found an accounting method that will allow them to keep spending large amounts while remaining financially viable

I imagine most clubs whose owners aren't in it simply as a passion project have these going out all the time because the right offer either to buy them out or buy a percentage will always be taken.

I also wonder if its been leaked to a journo might not be to fully sell but to get outside investment which would probably be needed for Championship or above

You'd think before making the claims he did after the Fleetwood game getting more involved and backing the club financially, he would have done due diligence of what the potential cost to him personally would be if we were to get there, you can mess up once but for a business man with his financial clout he seems a little naïve at times.

As an example...£10m tomorrow is worth more than £12.5m over 25 years though.

And to be fair, £5m with inflation is worth £7m today. We have now added an extra 2500 fans onto our average attendances since he took over.
