I think his foot injury came at a time when he was playing well. Taken him a while to get back up to speed. Big shout out to Jenson Interceptor. We will do well to keep him if he plays like this regularly.

 

The only bugbear today is that we didn't put them away with aplomb.
4 or 5 wouldnt have flattered us.
They were very poor but not our issue
More than happy to move onto Stockport Tuesday now.

They won the last two matches 8-2 on aggregate. We made them look poor they took criticism recently today they were brilliant there is no other word

 

Metcalfe-this was easily his best game for us.Could have been 6 or 7 today and they wouldn't have been able to argue against that.

How did Baldwin get POTM though?

Wheatley looks a unit. Jackson got into some really good places-running the channell.

Lets see how we perform against Stockport-gonna be a big test.

 

Apparently they lost their star man in the warm up (Tom Lees) I think his name is. Whether he would have made any difference we won’t know.

 

I wasn’t able to be at today’s game but it sounds like Posh played right into our hands by passing it out from the back and inviting our press. None of Cardiff, the Dogs, Lincoln or Luton did that.

The question for me is whether we can play as well as we did today against the less good teams if they don’t try to play Pepball, especially away from home. Jury is still out on that one.

 

Defender isn't he? Would explain why they were all over the place at the back if they had to make some last minute changes.

 

They got 6 last time out which is just bonkers!

 

Family birthday so game was on my phone but hardly got chance to watch - bloody typical!

What I did see we looked confident and comfortable. Metcalfe sounded class act again.

How did Jackson do from CF?
Kept hearing Wheatley getting close - should he have scored?

Sounds like Posh played to our strengths.

Any other main call outs? Is a coincidence Sarce starts and we’re back to improved performance and a win with it?

 

Yes, he should have scored. He looked good on the ball, quick and his movement across the front line was excellent.
Jackson should have had a hat trick. Power, Sarcevic and Metcalfe should have scored too.
Jackson certainly has pace but I think he needs several chances to put one away. His goal was a header from a superb Neufville cross. Good goal.

 

Pickford?

 

Given how "easy" today was I would have been tempted to put Evans and metcalfe together when he made the changes just to give them a longer period to adjust to each other.

On power's booking, it's ironic how for five weeks he has been holding back challenges to avoid a booking and yet got booked for a lazy leg delaying a free kick

 

They looked like a team that needed an experienced leader to calm them down. Number 15 that replaced him looked terrified every time the ball came near him

 

Just managed to see the highlights. Metcalfes first time ball to Neufville is also class. Rewind back to even last season when that ball into our CM feet from CB goes straight back. With Metcalfe (and Power TBF) we have CM’s able to keep the play moving forward. Fantastic. Neufville doing exactly how he started the season - long may it continue.

Great Jackson scored and even if he needs more chances to score, main thing is he’s creating the chances. Looked a good header.

Wheatley sounding very promising so far.

 

I commented during the match on how top drawer Jackson's movement was. He was excellent.

 

Our midfield two nearly always excel when our press is working and the opposition are held in their last third.
When the oppo combat the press by playing through a midfield dominance then we struggle.
That's when we become a defensive midfield and is crying out for an extra man in there to provide balance and an out ball.
GA says we are 'fluid' and it happens but I'm yet to recognise the fluidity, we tend to resort to hoof to overcome the midfield.
I'm not being intentionally negative after such a great performance today, I'm trying to be pragmatic by saying it still needs sorting as, unlike Posh, most teams will do their homework and not play tippy tappy in their own half and allow us to press them into errors.

 

Pleased with that, think we're in danger of being too wasteful, which could haunt us in pivotal games, but you cant ask more in terms of work rate and chance creation.

Absolutely bonkers that it finished 2 0.

I agree about Metcalfe but Baldwin was superb t not only his defending but his passing today was superb

 

Another shout out for me is Lee Evans, did 25 min and it was very composed cameo from him and definitely contributed to seeing our the game. He seems like a good acquisition
