I was thinking that and more having now googled embedded finance. Links via the club (app?) to financial products such as insurance, loans etc that ordinarily the club wouldn't be able to offer because they're regulated products....I think

 

I read it that they provide the software that links, for example, Aviva or maybe Barclaycard via the Bradford City website or app. So I might be able to get a Bantam Barclaycard, without the club having to undertake all the regulatory financial stuff because the contract would be between me and Barclaycard

That's my guess.

The Bradford City fanbase is a 'community' and I suspect that they have an idea to provide a platform that enables the easy provision of financial services to the 'community'. Perhaps the Yoof will put their pyro down to check how their Bradford City Stocks and Share ISA is performing against Huddersfield's...

When I worked in insurance, years ago, we provided white-label financial products that were easily branded for the likes of John Lewis and Tesco. So rebranding of financial products with the name Bradford City or Leeds United for example will be pretty straight-forward technically and legally. The challenge I suspect will be overcoming existing arrangements that clubs have with their current sponsors and affiliates. They are likely to have agreements in place not to partner with possible competitors.

I might be missing the mark here, but it doesn't feel like a 'disrupter'.
