How do you propose to fund this scheme of yours, one that doesn’t saddle the club with a £50-£100m debt pile?

 

Having a 25 year rent on VP again would be suicide if its the same model as what we have now, ie 500k no matter what league we are in. Ideally the rent should be tiered, ie the lower the league the lower the rent... We should use what happened with Stockport as an example, when they dropped to the conference they almost lost their ground because it was too big for the conference and they couldn't maintain it, if we drop to the conference within the next 25 years or so, then the same could potentially happen to us.. 500k rent would kill us in the conference with an empty ground. If Rupp can't buy the ground by 2028 then he either sells to someone who can or we tell Gibb to do one and play elsewhere.. Gibb would soon come into line, We have our new American sponsers.. maybe they could threaten tariffs on Gibb and Flamingo Land

As I’ve said, I have no idea. I’m not gonna suggest a venue.
All I’m saying is we cannot enter a new 25 year lease with Gibb unless the terms are flexible dependant on which division we are in.

 

Nobody wants that option of playing 50 miles away but we cannot sign a 25 year lease where rent increases annually. As pointed out by others, suppose we play 10 years in the Championship and the rent is £1m per year but then we fall down again into L2…..bye bye club forever.

Why would we need 50-100m to share a stadium for 2 seasons until Gibb is ready to sell VP or agree to more favourable lease terms.

Then as Ryan said we need to bring even more successful to the club being in the Championship the rent becomes less of a burden, and thats where Julian didn't think going forward we might not be in the same league as we were presently in, and took a deal that was based on what division we were in at the time of accepting the terms on offer, but what many seem to forget is if Gordon Gibb had not purchase Valley Parade we quite possibly would have struggled to get through our second administration, lets not paint Gordon Gibb as the bogy man in this scenario.

 

Who's to say it won't be, once again Gordon Gibb or the trustees have to get the best deal as possible for the pension fund by law after the Maxwell fiasco with the Daily Mirror pension fund money ?.

With the righr council at the helm we would have had that option and that would have been Odsal because i bet any other major City within the UK would have developed it years ago as some kind of venue beyond a sporting one ...............
