£18m for one 5000-7500 sized stand seemed bonkers to me, and thats just what the Welsh gov are going to pay for, i bet the whole work costs more.

The Brentford new stadium cost over £70m but that was London i suppose. Even the new Oxford stadium, they haven't even broken ground on that i think and the 16,000 seater all electric stadium is expected to cost around £130m-£150m.

Still paying for it with a much larger stadium, much higher crowds and a much enhanced reputationin terms of the size of the club?

If not, in what way are we "still paying for it" given that Richmond took us over while in this very division and apparently we're in the best financial health for more than a decade?

You don't get much for £18 million these days. You wouldn't get much change out of that of you were building our kop and that's a similar capacity

It’s criminal judging by the fact they can spend double that on a player self funded! Why should the UK taxpayer contribute ( Barnet formula funded so WE pay)

We don't own the stadium and are paying circa £9000 per week to play there
We do not own our own training ground, not certain we ever have
We have no assets so to speak
We borrowed heavily to fund the improvements on the back of a potential TV deal that collapsed, thus sending into admin and at the mercy of the wolves and also alienating lots of suppliers etc to the club and back tracking with the 25 year boys
I remember Gibb on the pitch bleating he was not the one taking from the club, well the pension fund has done well from his £2.5 million investment, buying the stadium , about £10 million with built in renewal
Which idiot signed that one off and they appear to have us over the barrel for a buy back
I also remember the admin in the 80's, have the certificate for my donation to help fund the club, somewhere
Dark days indeed and barring a change of ownership to a billionaire willing to throw money at it without a guaranteed return, then the way the club is run will have to be.

Isn't there going to be a hotel incorporated into that new stand at Wrexham similar to Blackpool.

Think they scrapped that idea Dave. It was in the 'master plans' but the focus is on the stand.....

    upload_2026-2-4_16-57-23.jpeg
The redevelopment of the Kop Stand at Wrexham's STōK Cae Ras is underway as of late 2025, with construction projected for completion in early 2027, creating a 5,000-seat stand, hospitality suites, and improved facilities. While a four-star hotel was previously mentioned in master plans, current focus is on the stand's completion.

So, in short, apart from not owning the ground (which may or may not be more profitable) absolutely nothing?

Blaming the admin after the PL era on present day issues is bizarre given that we all celebrate the huge crowds and point to them as potential which of course, wouldn't have been possible without GR's vision.

The rent alone other the years could have made a difference, owning the stadium is an asset we could have used to finance other things, with loans against it
So yes , i would say it has not helped us in any way at all and potentially, held us back
I like many loved the climb to the premier league and the fight to stay in that first season
I liked a lot less big Geoff and his ego tearing the heart out of what Paul Jewell had built, installing a puppet for a manager and the weekly beatings on our way down and the following admin, where if it was not for certain players waving their right to monies owed, we might have been in a far worse position
Certain owners, who where part of the downfall and the debt, retained ownership and then sold on to Mr Rupp.
We have no money, to build a new stadium, we can not agree a reasonable fee to buy back our own ground, so will have to enter into another 25 year agreement, with built in rent increases and are also responsible
    for all the maintenance

    Hang on.

You're talking about not owning the ground being costly due to the rent we pay on it but in the same breath say that owning the ground could enable us to get more finance and other, presumably large loans on it?

It feels like double standards here given that the interest on significant sums would also be very costly I'd imagine?

Well of course the commercial loan interest would be high, but eventually the terms would be completed and all that money spent would hopefully result in another asset, lets say a training ground of our own, which always appears to be a fan bug bare among some
The rent has ,is and always will be dead money, we have 23 home games per season which cost us £500k approximately, yes the stadium is used for other events, but losing it and the club shop , as part of huge debt was criminal in my eyes
The lease is up for renewal soon , and i see no other option currently than handing Flamingo land, Gordon Gibb, pension fund another £12 million over the next 25 years or so.

You would have thought when Rupp bought Bradford City he would have done due diligence and known when he purchased us the ground was not part of the deal, so you have to wonder was he told the annual rent is only going to be paid until 2026/7 or when ever it expires and then Gordon Gibb would be up for selling the stadium back to Bradford City, did he talk with the Pension Fund/Gordan Gibb about his interest in buying the club to confirm what the situation would be when the lease finished, I'm not too sure because when Edin called a meeting for the 25 year season ticket holders I was told he was hoping to talk us round to bring the deal to an end, it sounded like Edin wasn't aware of the 25 year situation.
I honestly can't see any reason going forward why the Pension Fund/Gordon Gibb would sell, its a cash cow that will possibly have us tied to it for many more years, having said that I've not heard anything from the "fans forum" on BBC Radio Leeds I doubt there is any movement on the stadium or new training facilities.

There is no movement on either Dave
Our only option is to let the lease run down and move out, that's not going to happen, we have nowhere to go and there is no desire to make it happen anyhow.
