Lee Evans (returns)

Solid enough signing in a position we need numbers in. I’m more confident with Evans in CM than Leigh (despite Leigh’s great start to this season) so would call this an upgrade.

 

Agreed and take it Evans in means that's it now. Unless there is something in the tenuous McIntyre links

 

Average window, the signing of Evans reaffirms that.

Expected better.

 

Evans unused sub last month when we played there. Clearly here just to cover Power's eventual suspension!

 

I read through the blackpool forum, the terms “slow” and “past it” came to mind when they were describing him

 

He likes a yellow card. Guess he puts himself about it these days, I remembered him more as being good on the ball.

 

I rated Evans when he was first here…ten years ago! Strange signing. Potentially a crock, back up player. Is that really the best we could do?

 

In my opinion he doesn't improve our starting 11 though. Ok back up but a bit underwhelming

 

I don't mind this.

Obviously Metcalfe and Power are fiest choice. Hopefully, they play every game and we don't need Evans but he's there as an experienced player if we do.

Similar signing to that O'Brien guy we had a few seasons ago.

 

I guess Evans was at Wigan with Tilt, Humps and Power?

 

So, Lee Evans. A trip down memory lane. time to note down the pros and cons

Pros
• Plenty of experience in League 1
• Has been playing consistently this season so wont need to get up to speed
• Has experience of Playing in a midfield Two
• Technically decent
• Had a decent shot on him
• Wont be “intimidated” by the Claret and Amber Wall
• Will be a key leader in the changing room

Cons
• Underwhelming
• Doesn't displace Power or Metcalfe on merit so not an upgrade
• We paid a fee. So Rupp will understandably be livid
• Not as mobile as he once was
• Will not suit a press
• Can not cover other positions of the park
• Injury prone
• Blackpool fans wanted rid

Evans is miles better than Tommy Leigh in CM. It’s an upgrade.
