Why would he agree to cancel his contract and have to get back fit by himself rather than using our medical staff and facilities.

Definitely weaker. Might be the only time this season Byrne finds himself on the winning side

Departures - Pattison, Leigh

Not really sure what to make of this one. No outstanding candidates. Early days for Sibley and White but neither have set the world alight

Leigh had a couple good games start of the season whilst Pattison never got into his stride. Jurys Out

One of the most underwhelming windows ever and added to the fact probably the best opportunity we have had for success at this level makes it even worse.

Without getting into the specifics, we probably aren't even paying his wages now, they are probably being paid in part or wholly by the insurance company so mutually terminating a contract becomes extremely expensive and probably very complicated.

Better to just deregister him but keep that confidential and wait to the end of his contract. It would have been a known risk when we signed him and they would have planned for it.

 

He's played 31 games so far this season and 45 last season so fitness isn't an issue. It will effectively be a 3 month trial to see how he does and to provide cover in midfield

 

McIntyre paid up at Pompey so can go anywhere now…..do maybe he comes in after all

This window was always going to be tougher than I think some thought and it is a reality check of where we are and the financial picture at the top end of league 1 both with transfer fees and wages.

When we were needing to try to get a top striker in it was always going to be nearly impossible as any we were looking at so were the likes of Bolton, Huddersfield and Luton as well as probably some lower end Championship clubs who can all beat us easily financially. If the bid for Beesley was £500,000+ then nobody can say the club haven't tried but they have to be sensible likewise with Benn Ward.
