I was speaking to a scout last weekend who has watched Wheatley before and knows him well. He said that he believes that he has the potential to be 'Elite' and has all the hallmarks to make it at the top of the game. His only concern about him is his goal output.

Funny. Burton Albion have all these multi million pound players, Shade, Beasley, Webster. But they are sat 21st in League One. So either someone is off their rocker with player valuations or Gary Bowyer is manager of the year

meanwhile there are people here that would happily accept 6 figure bids for our young stars, Pointon, Metcalfe etc

 

Still waiting on a decision from Pompey as to whether they will release him from his contract.

 

It's the only way Burton will survive, buy young and cheap (ish) and sell on for millions. But they need to stay in L1 for this to really work. So keeping Shade and Beesley and staying up is worth more than anything. But if Shade and Beesley get say 10 goals between them until the end and they stay up, and Webster comes back from injury and picks up form again, they could be looking at £4m/£5m for the lot? Maybe even more? If they go down, they probably wont get half that for all 3.

 

Coincidence that Wheatley's injury fully cleared up on deadline day!

we still have holes to fill at LCB and CM so this should be well down the pecking order in terms of priority
