Lee Evans or Jensen Weir seems to be the noise online. Weird that we haven't been linked with a CB? We have 5, Touray can play there too but then it's square pegs at LWB. All our on the books CBs have had injured issues in their time here too.

 

If they go down its on McCann, plenty of L1 quality in that squad, especially the midfield.

 

He's probably taken three things into account - playing time - he'll definitely play at Donny, sides further up may say "depends how you train/play", money, Donny would have pushed the boat to try and stay up, and contract for next year if he does well - they've probably said he'll get it, again, those further up probably said "we'll see how you go"

 

Midfielder more of a priority for me, someone who can play either Metcalfe or Power's role.

Let's be honest, whoever comes in is on the bench initially and there's 18 matches left so they have a limited window to get in the team and stay in it.

It's going to be hard to convince someone who has a similar role in a squad elsewhere already to come to us.

This is why we probably settled on Wheatley as a striker option - he won't make a lot of noise if he's not in the team as he's still young but will have something different to bring as a sub.

What is the cake and tea all about?

 

On Wheatley, he actually didn't do too badly with the chances he had at Northampton, they just barely create a thing. Think he had 33 shots in 20 games at Northampton, his conversation rate was identical to Salech at Cardiff....... but Kavanagh averaged more shots per 90 in L1 than Wheatley did. In a team that have the amount of efforts we usually do (excluding this shite January just gone), he could look a great player for us.

This is a good article to help understand Wheatley.
Can play across the front three. Likes to win the ball back high up the field (did it more than Humphry's in same period) and is comfortable carrying the ball.
Also explains his lack of goals at Northampton - he scored 3 against an expected xG of 3.3 and they had the lowest successful passes in the league in the final third and lowest passing accuracy, so, less opportunity.
Could be a good signing and hypothetically, if he does well and we go up, perhaps he returns for another loan next season?
