He might well be. I've watched pretty much every game he's played at football league level for city and my opinion is he isn't. Pardon me for not being a football scout though.....

He's being tracked by quite a lot of clubs. He had offers from League 2 last season when he went to York.
People on here literally see stats on a phone. But a scout looks at the package. So do potential suitors. Close the forum because we have a very different opinion....

I have seen Josh play. I've tracked his progress. I know what he can do. I've said it for over a year we should sign him, and it's not because of some hype. It's actual knowledge backed up by watching someone play football.

But I do think we should be looking at 2m for Bobby. Our own fans would be happy with 500k. The same as a Centre Back from Accrington...

He's young, developing and has shown he can play in League one. If he played for Posh they'd be demanding millions.

You've pretty much said our opinions on here are irrelevant due to us not being scouts or development officers. Watched football over 40 years, I think I've built up enough of a knowledge of what is a pretty basic sport to make a judgement of what level someone could possibly play at. I haven't put a value on someone like Josh Stones as I've not seen him play enough to make a reasoned judgement. As for transfer valuations I can only base that on my opinion as if I was a manager looking for a player. And as all transfer fee valuations are subjective my opinion has as much sway as anyone else. You might be right, my opinion states I don't think you are.

 

Basically agreeing we have a differing opinion. Which happens.

My point was about Stones, and you've just said you don't know anything about him. But my comment wasn't aimed at you in the first place. So we can draw a line under that.

I was making a point to whoever said he doesn't sound worth it because of his scoring record. The point is, SPL clubs and League 1 clubs are after him. So we can assume they have scouted him and seen what i've seen.

I'm surprised Wigan haven't just re signed him. But they're a basket case.

Several York fans live near us and the consensus is Stones is a good player and they don’t want to lose him so they are asking silly money. And we don’t have silly money

 

Looks like Ryan Hardie will finally be joining Bolton on loan as Wrexham are buying Bailey Cadamarteri from Sheff Weds. Wigan bringing in Jack Hunt on a free, Mansfield bringing in George Abbott on loan too. Huddersfield are bringing in Bobby Wales, a young striker on loan. They were also bringing in Fredricson, a young Man United defender on loan but it sounds like he picked up an injury training over the weekend and the deal is off.

 

You are wasting your breath, I’m an adult , I don’t play FM 2021, I don’t take a blind bit of notice of Transfermarket and its ilk and lastly I most certainly don’t use Twitter crap . I use my brain and eyes .

 

He has 8 goals for the runaway leaders in the non league. Before that he has done nothing. And Wigan got rid of him just 12 months ago.

£1m might be a sound investment for some clubs who can risk that fee or loan him out...but not us and we would be mental to pay it because he clearly hasnt done anything close to warranting that fee.

Nothing wrong with that, I also like watching out for players who stand out and see how far their careers go. I remember when we played Blackburn in the cup, I didn't know the names of their players but three players stood out as being technically far ahead of everyone else,. I looked for their names after, it was Adam Wharton, Tyler Morton and Thyrees Dolan, all now play at a very high level.same with the likes of Josh Cullen, Reece
Burke and Lewis O' Brien, you could tell straight away they weren't league one players.

 

I doubt Barnsley are buying him to loan out are they. Even if they're backed with money.

who is this alleged second player after Weatley? A striker? A midfielder? A lcb?

 

I saw Josh bully National League North clogger defenders and hold his own at 17. He was playing way beyond his years and we all knew he would be off higher.

You're right you can usually tell! Like Cardiff the other week, most of their players were technically better than league one.

 

We could do with all 3 but it's midfield where, apart from Metcalf, we lack quality.
