Wells was playing out on the left under their old manager, he's playing in the false nine now, 2 goals but 5 assists, showing he is more setting up than getting on the end of stuff.

 

If it does happen then fair play to our recruitment department as this is exactly the sort of player we should be speculating on. Has the game to play in the championship and although I'd like that to be with us I understand how the game works.

So I would say the same for Bobby too.

 

Summer maybe, but unless someone is offer bonkers money we cant be entertaining this one. Would leave Power as the only proper CM we have on the books, loads of attacking mids who can play deeper at a push, but we cant let him go.

 

I would say Metcalf is worth a bit more than Bobby at the moment.
Hypothetically; do we accept a £4/5 million bid for Metcalf, play Leigh (or choose your donkey) for the rest of the season, accepting a mid table finish? Use the money to fund a proper promotion push next season?

Yes I have been there many times and yes it’s a real comparitor to BD8 in places .
Remember the US purchasing philosophy is “ It’s only real estate” . Their back up is the property itself , if not immediately but purchased asap . They have little interest in the club. The ground is owned by the club , we don’t!

Look at Huddersfield, the club is a means to an end . He’s bought up the stadium and large parcels of nearby land . Hotels (?) , retail parks and so on. The football club is a by- product to support the “ investment” . If it’s successful great , if not sell the land if it fails ?

 

The usual way to solve this conundrum is a sell and loan back deal but with so many loans on the books already that just isn't going to work for us..

 

Aint nobody paying £4-5m for Metcalfe after a decent half season in L1. Absolutely no chance. £1m tops.

In the summer you would be talking more if he continues his progression.

 

Also exactly why this long ball crap has to stop. Pass the ball through Power and Metcalfe and we'll play like we did against Donny (except the crap bit around the time of the subs where we hoofed it long).

 

You ain't getting anywhere near the same money. No disrespect to Bobby but Metcalfe will end up anchoring a championship central midfield.

 

I think there's a substantial sell on clause in place with Everton so any offer would have to take it into consideration.

 

We should be looking to recruit back up for Power and Metcalf,not looking to get rid of the best young midfielder we’ve had for a while.

Metcalfe is finally our permanent Josh Cullen that we always wanted all those years ago. It shows the benefit of shopping in that market. If we sell him in the summer I'd look to reinvest in the likes of George Abbott.
