He was great against Colchester and Swindon, but that was 5 of his 9 goals all season in L2. Apart from a little purple patch of 6 goals in 5 games he was very average.

His goal scoring exploits were on par with Lee Angol.

I've never been a fan of the lad and he's definitely not up to playing in league one, but he was the match winner for us in 3 games last season so I'll always be grateful to him for those 9 points because we wouldn't be where we are today without them. Hope he does well at Oldham.

Hopefully a bit of a hint there that his head may have been slightly turned by the speculation and offer he knows has been submitted.

I don't think we'll be trying again. GA said one more in minimum (presumably Wheatley), and 2 max, but he said that one would be in a different position if they come in. It's possible he's bluffing of course, but I think the Beesley ship has probably sailed.

 

My take on Wheatley is that he was coming, but we’ve pumped the brakes. Things do change, and we can just put it down to waiting on his injury.

I think if we’re after Beesley, Wheatley isn’t the same type of player. Not that I’ve seen him, but he’s not a big target man is he?

it’s possible Wheatley will be announced before the deadline, I’d say it’s as likely that it he won’t be. Depends on if other targets are available or not.
