Simon Parker rubbished the Cole rumours yesterday .

 

Its not the players though is it. the fans have got behind them and still had the last three results , where the bare minimum of effort seems to have deserted them

I have done since the mid 1970's and this past month has again been soul destroying, watching a club that is supposed to be on the up flounder around in the transfer market and turn out the complete tripe we have seen on the pitch. Yes the three clubs have better squads and more money and experience, but the least i expect is to show that we are trying, 9 shots on Target in 5 matches i believe i read.
Sheff weds are a big club run into the ground by another fraud owner, i have some insider knowledge on his dealings, but who on here thinks they wont be picked up by owners, that will have them way ahead of us again

not for one minute is he the first choice, other targets will have been too expensive in either transfer fees or wages.
We all no the club isn't awash with money, but currently it appears we have non.

 

I prefer to imagine that all of the recruitment team are doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. That would mean coming up with a shortlist of candidates based on desirability, affordability, realism, and availability, to name but 4. It may be that Mullin was not top of the list but, as we know, there are many reasons why a club is unable to sign target number 1, so we move on to target 2, and so on. Same for all clubs, everywhere, always and forever. We are not especially bad at it but circumstances, sometimes beyond our control, dictate the reality. Who's to say Target number 4 won't turn out to be better for us than target number 1? Skillful planning or dumb luck? Welcome to football recruitment.

 

Our usual 'desperation' move would be to offer a 4 year deal - if its a loan, then its still crap, just less desperate than we have been in the past.

Partially right I guess. We have been blown out of the water by teams paying ott transfer fees, loan fees, signing on fees coupled with daft contracts and that’s what we are predominantly up against .
All we are left with are plan B’s and CC clubs making their minds up in the last knockings of the window.

The second sentence should have ended “ unlike some of our fans “ . We all know what we are up against yet some dare not admit it. If he were double our player budget I suggest it wouldn’t be enough compared to some L1 clubs.

 

Sorry to say this but I would say Mullin is a better striker than Cookie.
I love Cookie for what he did for us but a younger version of that type of striker with decent numbers in previous seasons (ok neither have hit any decent numbers in Div 1) but I would say 2 years ago we would have snapped off parkies hands to get Mullin in at VP.

Just saying.....

 

Mullin will need to pass to himself, because we haven’t got anyone who can do that. I hope he’s just one signing out of a few. If that’s the case, then I can understand it and it might work. If he comes as the only attacking player in the window, then it’s pointless.

 

So we've had Mullin, Cole, Beasley mentioned. Today someone on X is touting Kayden Jackson and someone on Facebook has just said Pointon's ginger friend, very good singing 9. Anyone have a clue who this could be? My only guess would be Josh Stones but that would cost an awful lot of money.
