I imagine we do want players in within the first week as everyone does, but if we want good players we will be competing or waiting for clubs to let them go? Or would people be happier if we snap up 4 free agents? We’ve not got as much money as some clubs which we all know so it’s not as straightforward as just chucking a bag of cash at a club as some can.

 

That's standard with any manager and it's why manager trust is vital for a player. You could pick any manager in the world and they will have their favourites and there will be players that don't get a look in with 1 manager but look amazing with another. Andy Cook wasn't rated/trusted by Nigel Clough yet we had managers who did like him and got the best out of him. Pattison left as he couldn't be trusted to be disciplined in the press and once that's gone you almost never get it back. Different managers prioritise different parts of the game as well and the press is a key part for Alexander which is why he favours players that can do it and it's why Sarcevic is so key when he would struggle to get into the starting 11 of most top half sides in league 1.

It's no different to how fans are stubborn with players, once they decide they don't like them that's it and they'll never praise a player and every time that player is picked they will find fault, it's standard human bias that everyone has.

 

We let Cook go...he should have remained until it was sorted. GA refused to pick him for whatever reason and wanted him out of the door - I think this is the biggest error of judgment. Had we signed a striker or 2, in early Jan, I doubt there would be many complaints.

I think most who supported GA's decision now feel let down that a CF wasnt signed in the days after.

It’s Sharpe, Sparks role to convince Rupp to either put more in or consider getting help in. Selfish from Rupp club with lots of potential and we have hit our ceiling already. Just put it up for sale or bring in help. He’s selfish and I get it but it’s a community asset the club and it’s been backed to the hilt by fans. We deserve better than hitting 3rd in Jan 2026 which is probably our highest position in 10 years he’s owned us.

You get my point, never sustained in this league and actually we were relegated in that 10 years dropping to one our lowest ever positions. All under Rupp, we have hit our ceiling it’s really simple as that.

Yep.... although when was the last time this squad pressed like we did for the first few months of the season? A while ago now. We played this long crap with no press in the Christmas games and all Jan so far. Probably been at least 2 months if not longer since we actually played the pressing style, the nails been in that coffin for some time in my view.

 

Think this would be a really poor move, happy to be proven wrong though.

Sharpe and co have had it spot on since he arrived at the club, this January so far though has been a car crash on and off the pitch.

 

My worry is that we have just made it much harder for us to bring in an ambitious sighing or a quality loan from a PL or Championship club. At the start of January we were a very attractive proposition. Well organised and flying high. 4 weeks later we are looking a bit clueless and potentially dropping down the league. Some of the targets we have allegedly been waiting on might be having second thoughts
