Tonight's beverages

 

Had enough Timothy Taylor's Golden Best this afternoon followed by a curry so don't reckon I'll be partaking tonight.

 

Jealous of the away day cask ale drinkers today in Burton! I lived there while working for the brewery for three years, and fell in love with so many pubs. And there is so many good ones. Back in its heyday as a proper brewing town with over one hundred breweries operating (!!), there was a pub for every ten people. Still some of my favourites in the whole of England along with our own Corn Dolly. Coopers, Elms, Devonshire, Burton Bridge are all up there. Only an hour and ten mins drive from Bradford and well worth a visit (or train trip).

 

There is a CAMRA real ale festival at Burton Town Hall today as well. Some friends of ours have something to do with organising it.

 

Watching Poland v Albania - was looking for a decent Polish beer but could only find Tyskie … no thanks. Apparently the photo file size is too big to load - anyway, opted for Korev and Menebrea.

 

Despite the name, this is a Polish stout. It's not bad, actually. Bottle only, as far as I'm aware.

 

Tonight's beers:

 

A glass of Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc to begin with.
A bottle of Hacienda Lopez de Haro Rioja to accompany ox cheeks in red wine for dinner whilst we watch City.
